High drama at the Old Oak tonight, with Worthing B snatching victory from the jaws of defeat: At one stage they stood 1-3 down, but their last three players just got better and better as the scores would suggest.
Redhill A 3, Worthing B 4
Game 1 Geoff Jukes (with break) 14,700 Brian Richards (not a lot he could do) 230 (1-0)
Game 2 Jason Wadsworth 7200 Nick Brown 3940 (Jason made the most of an early chance he was given) (2-0)
Game 3 tommo 3640 Bill Kerr 7460 (Bill was off with next to nothing, tommo's reply was 3640, this galvanised Bill into gear and he posted 5500; tommo couldn't get 'em back again and Bill had time to get another 2k.) (2-1)
Game 4 Laurie Roberts 7750, BarneyBear 5240 (Laurie's opener was 5500 before he had a wicked 'kick' and BarneyBear, chasing, pulled up on about 3500; like tommo he did have enough time, as both players added 2k in the time left. (3-1)
Game 5 Colin Robbins 80, Dave France 8320. This was a heartbreaker for Redhill. I was scoring this and can confirm that Dave opened with 8100 and Colin all but hunted him down. Colin had got to within 400 and the bar had not gone, when he missed a split with the hundred dropping but the cue ball going round behind the fifty. He gambled on splitting it wide of the left hand peg, one ball dropped and the other came back off the far cushion to topple the right hand peg. (3-2)
Game 6 D.C. 1680, Gary Ridley 8940 (DC had a couple of chances early on but was unable to take them and Gary was first to slot into the groove. (3-3)
Game 7 Terry Oakley 2580, Doug Mahy 10,090 Terry left his first one-up short and didn't get another visit until what seemed like ages. An out-of-sorts Terry later repeated the shot and SuperDoug more or less played out time to earn Worthing B a famous victory.

Worthing A 3 :( Tunbridge Wells 4
Excellent first win in the top flight for T/Wells. Not quite as bad as the 7-0 drubbing in our last home game but still disappointing with plenty of chances there for the taking. ::)
Game 1 - Mal opened with 3k & looked to be cruising until a top of the table shot failed to work. Ian Wright had three breaks to win. 3090 - 5830 :-X 0 - 1
Game 2 - Pete Sainsbury decided he was playing me provided i was against the break. He opened with a flawless 4k and then missed the white on the break, coming off soon after. I got the break back and touched on at 9k. 9560 - 5910 :P 1 - 1
Game 3 - Martin Leach kicked off with 8k in 10 minutes giving Barry little chance of catching him. 4430 - 9090 :-/ 1 - 2
Game 4 - Roger levelled the tie with two breaks against Dave Ansett. 9070 - 630 :) 2 - 2
Game 5 - Vinny Mitchell left his first one-up short and Ian capitalised with two breaks. 13440 - 550 :) :) 3 - 2
Game 6 - Neil never retrieved the break throughout this game and Brian Stevens won comfortably. 760 - 7880 :-X 3 - 3
Game 7 - All down to the lucky last (or unlucky in our case). Although Martin put the red ball behind the 50 hole several times in his opening break, he still looked comfortable. He left a ball smack in the middle on 4k and unfortunately missed it to lose the break. ??? Doug Phillips got them back and set up a 2k lead. Martin cleared the balls with 4 minutes left and on reaching 1900 whipped the one-up ::) leaving Doug to pot the loose balls with the bar imminent. Martin black pegged with no chance. 0 - 2740 3 - 4
Enjoyable evening, good company but a result that definitely puts us out of the picture for any honours. Well done the Kent boys.

Mid Sussex A 6 Mid Sussex B 1 Sorry Q. What a night where the away team lost 3 out of 4 of the break games.
BB Reaper 2500 John Lear 1930 Lorraine Hall 1870 Paul Jobbins 1110 Andy Farmer Wright 6300 Iang 2210 Sparky 4280 Neil Burchell 830 Peter Hall 4460 Trevor Rees 2220 Sir jock o the strap 1680 Darrell skinner 4230 Peter Edwards 5990 BB Warrior 1710
Paul should have won against Lorraine but pegged 2 decent breaks. :'( I was going well & leading AFW then managed to put the break down 4 times, leaving him to compile a 4K break. :'( Trevor took out the black playing up the right hand side :'(

Not forgetting the 3k I lost Ian, we both lost more than we scored and both suffered with the pegs.

Not forgetting the 3k I lost Ian, we both lost more than we scored and both suffered with the pegs. Yes sorry Lorraine I'm still in shock. you were very unlucky as the ball kept coming off the back cushion & you did not deserve that. :( :(
