Brighton A 5 - 2 Redhill A
A great night of Bar Billiards at the Tap.
Chris Reeves opened the night with a break of 24,230 against Tommo to make it 1-0 to Brighton.
Colin Robbins came off on about 1400 and gave Rick Dewdney a chance but he could not take it and Colin retrieved the balls and made enough. 1-1
I took on Gary Powell in the third. Gary went off with exactly 4000, I got the balls back and touched on 9k to secure the win, 2-1
Gareth had the break in the fouth and left the one up short on 1400, Jason Wadsworth moved in got the balls back and progressed steadily to 7k only to then peg it and give gareth the break back. Gareth unusually missed again on 2k and was 3750 up with 5 mins left. Jason got the break back and made 5030 ti win 2 - 2
TUPPER TIME, Dave Constable went off with 2900, Tupps made just over 5k and the game then went to the back of the table, not many people beat Tupps with 5-6 balls at the back. 3-2
Dave Reeves then comfortably beat Paul reece who missed his first split, Daves first real go at the tap knocking in a total of 11,900. 4-2
Nigel then had a free run at a big break against Geoff Dukes and knocked in 24710, Nige did well considering two people watching him through the window and then someone crouched down beside him at the table. 5-2
Two massive breaks by Chris and Nige , well done.

Yes it's unfortunate that the rules allow for it to be decided for you beforehand by your captain that you're not going to have a single go, and Jukesy (himself capable of 20k) suffered the same fate in the last game. Time to return to the fairer way of a pre-match draw of players names out of a hat, to give more credence to the averages ? They were nonetheless two tremendous breaks by Chris and Nigel and entertaining to watch. But it looked such a good table and I would have loved to have had a go on it. My evening was saved (not for the first time) by the food which was provided - fresh french sticks, with a selection of cheeses including tommo's favourite Stilton. 8-)

Mid Sussex A v Worthing D :- Match Abandoned after one game.
Only one game was played before a power cut put an end to the nights proceedings. We all then played 'guess the sandwich' ;D as it was too dark to see what was in them. Good food and plenty of banter, but hardly any Bar Billiards :D :D

Eastbourne 4 Worthing C 3
Colin Southgate 2640 1970 Edge Butler Chris Hayes 1570 2560 Gina Sherratt Chris Turner 1990 2650 Rick Cunningham Roy Jenkins 2510 570 Arthur Brewster Steve Creasy 2180 2620 Steve Aylmore Gary Sweeney 4870 1720 Tony Jenner Stuart Chant 3250 2450 Dave Jones
Scores tell the story of the match with only Gary knocking in over 2k break, match turned on TJ starting well with three times down, split until pegging around 2k, probably enough to win all other games, once Gary retreived the break did not look as though he was going to make a mistake. Excellent evening capped with curly fries, chiken and cheesy garlic bread. Well played Eastbourne, but believe the table certainly does your own team no favours.
