It is a shame when any competition has to clash, but it is always going to happen one way or the other. These things have to be planned in advance and organisation for tables etc made, so as Jean says they cannot be re-arranged at short notice.
The comments on the board do not look as though meant personally, but rather as somebodys own view. I think Mothers Day is certainly important, but go with the view that Mum is important at al times. Remember in Richards case ( and certainly others ) we are talking a 4year old who ias looking forward to doing something special for Mum. I for one think it is great that Richard encourages his 4year old to want to share special occassions with mum.
There are after all other events that he will be attending, and we do after all only have one mum.

Tony I think its the same of problem of reading a comment in different ways when its put on a public forum.
This really is a bad day to hold a tournament on I really can not believe the tourament is to be played on mothers day
This could be read as just Richards personal feeling on the matter or it could be read that SCBBA have been wrong to put it on this day.
Personally i think if it was just a personal feeling then i would just approach my teammates and say sorry cant make it because its mothers day rather than putting it on a public forum.
It will be interesting to see what happens when it clashes with the Bournemouth weekend!

I certainly am not taking sides on this and only add comments if I think they are worth while. I for one appreciate the administration ai any league, competition etc as people give up their own valuable time for little reward if any.
In all of the leagues that I play and local competitions and now national opens, I am one of the first to thank people for their hard work. Appreciate that their will be the usual whingers whatever you do, and that it is always going to be a fact of life that dates will clash.
Probably agree that it should in this case be just a matter of discussing with own team, and arranging 7 players around those available, bue surely the idea of a forum is for peope to air their points of view as long as it is not done in such a way as to cause personal offence, or just to air dirty washing.
Think in this case Richard was airing a personal point of view and not meaning anything personal about it, although prehaps a better choice of wording could have been used.

Just waiting on 1 or 2 Redhill teams for the ladies Jean I have spoken with Denise today. She has 9 players now - so is definitely aiming at 2 teams. I gather it depends on some players joining us from Tunbridge Wells? Do you know where we stand with that please? Would be great to have them on board. Josie x

Hi Josie
At the Redhill invitaion i gave Denises number to onw of them and she said she would contact Denise. Ive also put something on the Tunbridge Wells thread but again no reply so i assume they cant get any players.
Still only one player to find to make the 2nd team.
Anyone reading this that is not playing and would like to please let us know.

Worthing will unfortunately only be sending two teams to the B one day inter-league despite efforts to arrange three. Any idea of a start time. Am I being thick but on the 3rd March Div 1 comp it shows Worthing and Brighton, as these are both represented in the B team comp how are these two teams being formed ???.

Thanks Tony, first post edited to show we have 4 B-teams for this years competition. Not sure what you mean about Div 1 on the 3rd March but that day is for the A sides, so Brighton and Worthing should of their A sides present on that day.

Well the first day of one dayers is upon us and looks like a good turn our of 5 teams for the B Comp, good luck to all who are taking part today and over the next two weekends. Expect the competition to be fierce, but friendly, and the usual high standard we now have come to expect.
Thanks in advance to those who are organising, no mention anywhere of raffles, but will bring along a couple of bottles anyway, prehaps before the other days somebody could post wether or not teams need to bring prizes, thanks.

Well said, BigTJ, and I would also like to say Good Luck to all those taking part in these events over the next two weekends.
Will try to look in on today's competition for 'B' teams on the way back from my mum's today, and should also be there tomorrow to cheer on Mid Sussex in the 'A' (Div 2) and maybe score a couple of games if required.

Tommo, I can't take the credit for the SCBBA website, credit where credit is due, and it should go to Steve "super mario" Mariner for the work on the website.
