Thanks to Jean and Graham for organising a great day - the whole thing ran like clockwork. :)
Any chance of seeing the friendly results against the part Redhill team?

Congratulations to Redhill yesterday on an excellent performance. Going into the last match with Brighton, there was a point between them. A draw would have done Redhill, but they won 7-3. Great to see two Worthing teams as well. The `B` teams` final points tally doesn`t really tell the facts, with quite a few games going to the last ball :o

A most enjoyable day, well run and keeping to the scheduled times. Well done to Jean B, ably assisted by Sparky. Congratulations to the triumphant Redhill ladies, and a word of comfort to Worthing B - you took part, will learn from the experience and your time will come. Hope to see you again in a year's time. 8-)

Thanks Nigel :) So double congratulations are due to Redhill, to the A's for their win and to the part-team Redhill B for winning the friendly series - what a pity they couldn't find the other two ladies to make up a full team :( Maybe next year they could spread their net down to Lewes, Horsham and West Sussex if Tunbridge Wells can't supply the players. and a word of comfort to Worthing B - you took part, will learn from the experience and your time will come. Hope to see you again in a year's time. 8-) The results don't reflect how close some of their games were, they were unlucky not to pick up more points. It probably sounds an odd thing to say, but playing 8-10 games in a one day on tournament tables is probably the finest form of practise out there, as well as the chance to see some really top ladies play. I know it has always raised my standards afterwards - even if I've lost every game.

Unfortunately Ros the net was spread further afield. In the last 3 weeks i was trying to find 2 extra players and asking people from Lewes Billingshurst Tunbridge Wells etc. There was also a post put on here for anyone interested. Believe it or not there were no replies.
When it got to Thursday i decided i had run out of options so suggested the friendly be played so at least these 3 players would get some games as they were all really keen to play. This then meant I had to sort out new formats etc and although the 3 players involved had to play on only 2 of the tables hopefully they enjoyed the day.

Seems like you tried everything Jean, short of posting in pink on the W Sussex board!
It's good that you went the extra mile to give those ladies a match - the future of our game depends on actions like that. 8-)

Glad everyone seemed to enjoy the day. To think that a couple of years ago this was a non-event due to lack of interest am really glad that the work was put in to get it re-instated on the bb calendar.
Heres some of my favourite moments of the day.
SCARIEST MOMENT The scream from table 4 when Nikki won her first leg of the day. Im sure half of the football players came running in to rescue a damsel in distress :o
HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY Worthing B player saying to me "We havent won a point yet but we are having great fun and enjoying it" Sums up the day and makes it all worthwhile. :)
QUOTE OF THE DAY (No names mentioned to avoid any embarrasment) "If id managed to hit that ball it would have been a good shot" ::)
WORST CAPTAINS ADVICE Bella - "I cant believe ive left the one up short so many times today" Jean - "Hit it harder then and make sure the white reaches". Bella - "I cant believe i Just got the break 4 times" :-X :-X :-X
APOLOGY OF THE DAY Must go to Hayley Burton or is it Helen Tunstall !! I would make the excuse that it had been a long day but as it happened at the beginning i will just have to put it down to a couple of blonde moments. SORRY :-/ :-[ ::)

Tried looking this up in the dictionary Jean but cannot find it! What the bacardi-and-coke does it mean? Is it religious (sacrament)?

Just wanted to add my thanks to Jean and Graham for a very enjoyable day of bar billiards (obviously helped greatly by the fact that we won ;) !!!). I just wanted to add my thanks especially to Jean - who really did try so hard to help out our "B" team. It was very disappointing that we couldn't find the two ladies ourselves - we have many many ladies who play in Redhill - but we couldn't coax them out for the day. The girls that did play in the "B" Team are all very keen and really appreciated the chance to take part in the day. They were also gobsmacked that they managed to sneak the win too!!!!!! :P Also thanks to all the ladies who played them so sportingly - we appreciate that there are enough games to play as it is - without having the added games of a friendly to get through. It was great that you all took part and helped us out! Again, many thanks to all for organising - we're looking forward to next year already (where I hope I won't be waddling around this time :-[!!!!!) Josie x
