A mixture of joy and heartbreak for both teams at the Swan tonight.
Joy for the Worthing 'B' on pulling the match back to 3-3 with Dave France winning against the break. And then the heartbreak of losing the final frame.......
And for Redhill, the joy of winning a tense decider. And then heartbreak in the form of a text message to Jukesy from Sir KT reading simply "We won 6-1, we are runners-up."
So as Baldrick would say "The Ostrich died for nothing". ;D
Worthing B 3, Redhill A 4 Phil Oakley 6490, Paul Reece 1050 Bill Kerr 5120, Geoff Jukes 5990 BarneyBear 2890, Gary Powell 7470 Matt Squire 4890, the Pathfinder 4660 Nick Brown 1380, Colin Robbins 7450 Dave 'Hawaiian' France 6250, D.C. 1770 Doug Mahy 4290, tommo 4810

An excellent night at the Albion, great table, good company with plenty of banter, followed by baked potatoes with beans, cheese or chilli. Thanks to Brighton for the evening and well done to Lewes for securing Div Two with their win against Redhill C. We went into the lastseries of games with any one of five teams still able to win thw league. Worthings win puts them as runners up, due to the decisions made by the committee on Friday evening. It has been a great season with all games being competitive, the only downside being the postponed/no show games.
Jean Brackenbridge 13170 140 Eric Butler Excellent game from Jean opening with just over 4k then adding around 7.5k next time on.
Doug Dawson 4690 8080 Gina Sherratt Gina opened with 7.5k and Doug set about chasing only to break down at 4.5k, it would have been tight for time but if he kept going maybe!!!!
Bella Stoner 3570 9100 Charlie Cooper Charlie gets to 5k and did not look like missing, but caught the split thick and came off at top of table. Bella gets the break back only to miss. Cahrlie makes sure next time on break, although Bella had her chances.
Alan Brackenbridge 4820 920 Dave Jones Alan pegs his opener then both players went about trying not to win. Dave gets a winning break near the end only to peg them, Alan steps in to make it 2-2
Terry Coughlan 4600 4910 Rick Cunningham A very tense one this, both players not relly getting going and it was dwn to whoever was on the table at the end, for us luckily it was Rick who showed his bottle to win.
Terry Molloy 4140 7680 Tony Jenner Tony catches the split thick and off at under 1k. Terry gets breakback and TJ settles down to watch expecting the game to be over before he is back on, but lo and behold Terry catches the split thick at 1.5k. TJ makes a steady 7k, but leaves both up to give Terry a chance. Luckily tjs 7 was a steady affair and Terry comes off pushing to catch up. A win for Worthing.
Colin Green 6830 1320 Arthur Brewster A steady game from Colin, and with Arthur certainly out of luck ( the last two players having used it all up), colin recorded a win to make it 3-4.

Yes Tunbridge Wells were savaged last night, Worthing A 6 - 1 winners, including a 24,740 break by KT. If he had not missed a split it would have been 25k.
Very Impressive.
I bet there are not many breaks that big on an away table.
The corn beef hash didn't last long !! next chance to get some will be at the Kent Classic - send your entry now !!

So, having already congratulated the runaway winners Brighton several week ago, now would be the time to say well done to Worthing 'A' in becoming runners-up in a close-run affair, Worthing 'B' and Redhill 'A' also having been in contention.
Congratulations to KT on his 24k, and I am given to understand that he also heads the leaderboard on the 'naked ladies - spot the difference' pub machine in the Imperial. ;D ;D ;D

So, having already congratulated the runaway winners Brighton several week ago, now would be the time to say well done to Worthing 'A' in becoming runners-up in a close-run affair, Worthing 'B' and Redhill 'A' also having been in contention. Congratulations to KT on his 24k, and I am given to understand that he also heads the leaderboard on the 'naked ladies - spot the difference' pub machine in the Imperial. ;D ;D ;D I was told that as well last week Tommo but i forgot to check it out :-/ I believe the T/Wells boys change the names about for a laugh ;) Tunbridge Wells 1 Worthing `A` 6 Perhaps next season, we`ll start playing as well as we`ve finished this one ::) Great evening at the Imperial (my first visit there), a very good table indeed and excellent food after. Brian Stevens 11,650 Neil Higgins 5,030 - Brian opened with a splendid 11k+ and Neil finished off with his 5k. 1 - 0 Martin Leach 4,530 Ian Lelliott 11,530 - Ian kicked off with 6k+ and played a split to thick leaving both balls up. Martin retrieved the break but never really got going. Ian made another 5k and Martin finished off. 1 - 1 Doug Phillips 6,760 Roger Taylor 11,550 - Dipper opened with an excellent 11k+ and Doug finished off. 1 - 2 Pete Sainsbury 6,910 Tony Lewis 8,310 - Surprisingly, Pete left his one-up short when going well at about 3k+. Tony got them back and made a steady 8k+ for a crucial win. Pete played the rest out. 1 - 3 Neil Chamberlain - Kt 24,740 - Just once in a while i fancy going for a `biggy`, most times it all depends how the match is going, and being 3-1 up and either Martin or Mal to play the next break game i took my chance. Sorry to Neil for having to watch :-[ but there was a big score there waiting to be hit. 1 - 4 Vinny Mitchell 650 Mal Spier 6,770 - From this point on, the table seemed to get a tiny bit trickier with the next 4 players all missing something on the break or one-up. Mal had a couple of breaks and lost another to comfortably beat Vinny. 1 - 5 Ian Wright 3,150 Martin Smith 9,080 - Both players missed early opportunities but Martin killed the leg with a decisive break. 1 - 6 Considering we lost 4 out of the first 5 matches, i can`t believe we ended with runners-up :o Well done to all my players for turning things around ;) Hard luck to Redhill `A` and Worthing `B` who we pipped at the post ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations to Lewes on gaining promotion to Division 1 next year, Worthing A for finishing Runners-Up in Division 1 and Sir KT for a great score up at Tunbridge Wells!! ;D
I think that Mid-Sussex B currently top Division 3 after a closely fought match against Mid-Sussex A last night........ however with so many games missing - it's very hard to tell!! ??? ::)

Closer than i thought Tommo. Seems like we needed a 6-1 to tie with you on points and legs :o Mal informs me that we have a higher aggregate than you though so hard luck again. Good competition in the end, for second that is. ;)
