Thanks for the update, Jean. Just to draw your attention too to a thread which is going on elsewhere, with discussion relevant to this competition...... Great news that there is still a league in HASTINGS, and prospect of a new team encouraging. As Tommo says it would be good to see affiliation to Sussex. Not sure what rules are for the one day inter league events, but might be an avenue to explore if you could get seven people interested in playing at the roffey Club, Horsham. I will talk to the committee and see if there is any chance you could be invited if interested. Tony Jenner. Yes I would like very much to do something like the one day inter league. As you say we'd have to get 7 players together to do that. That could prove a stumbling block. Getting 7 players to travel to Horsham might be difficult. A few of my team might like to give it a go, but trying to get anyone else from other teams probably wont be easy. I'll speak to a few people next week when we have a game and see what they think.

A couple of points as a result of Hastings' interest.
1) If we're insisting on an affiliation, how about a discounted one as they're coming in half-way through the season ?
2) If there turn out to be 7 'A' teams in the 2nd division (and of course 5 in the 1st) - would it be a good idea to balance things out for the following year by saying that two go up ? Extra to play for, and all that......

thanks Jean for updating this one day thread 2) If there turn out to be 7 'A' teams in the 2nd division (and of course 5 in the 1st) - would it be a good idea to balance things out for the following year by saying that two go up ? Extra to play for, and all that...... Although 2 divisions of 6 seem logical, I think it would work better as a 5 and 7 split. Reason being players will only get 5 games each if each division had 6 teams, With the 5 and 7 split, div 1 players would still get 8 games, div 2 players would get 6. Just my opinion though

I can understand the reasoning, Nigel, and I am theoretically one of the persons who benefits with it that way.
But there are others to consider - notably the candidates for the extra Div 1 place who would then have an opportunity for increased ranking points.
So I don't think that this one will be let go without a fight. ;)

28TH FEBRUARY - B TEAMS BRIGHTON B, BRIGHTON C, MID SUSSEX B, REDHILL B, REDHILL C, WORTHING B, WORTHING CCan Brighton C confirm asap as there would be 7 teams and a new format needs to be written. It might be worth somebody checking to make sure that Redhill are sending 2 teams down for the B Teams competition..... as Richard Plaw didn't seem to think that they were when I spoke to him last night...... ???

Redhill B are definites, and Redhill would also like to send a 'C' team please (captain: Mick Donaldson). Will pay the extra entry fee on the day if that's acceptable.
This is what was put on the other inter-league thread which looks to me as if 2 teams from redhill are turning up. I hope so having spent lots of hours doing a new format

I have spoken to Gary Powell (Redhill Chairman) on several occasions, and he has asked me to confirm to this Forum that Redhill will have both B and C teams for the One-Day. Richard Plaw didn't seem to think that they were when I spoke to him last night...... ??? Always best to speak to Dickie early in the evening rather than later when he's had a few, Dave. ;) ;) I made the point of asking Gary last night to clarify if there will be a Redhill Ladies' B - as at the time this had still not been confirmed. His team play Denise's (Redhill Ladies Interleague Secretary) tomorrow night and he will make a point of asking her about the B's then.

Just to clarify that Denise has been in contact with me and has said that there almost certainly will be a b team but she is just waiting on a couple of replies.
With regards to a B & C team i can only go on what has been said on her that Mick Donaldson(sorry if thats wrong) wants to put a team in and will pay the extra on the day. Im now half way through writing the format for the 7 teams so will finish it just in case. Got a lot on the next couple of weeks so cant take the chance of not doing it and then 7 teams turning up!

Just to set the minds to rest of all concerned, Jean especially, I have been in touch with Gary tonight and he in turn has contacted Richard.
Everything has been clarified, teams, squads, dates, venue, and there will definitely be both Redhill B and C teams for Sat 28th Feb. As agreed, Mick Donaldson will pay for the C team's entry on the day.
And I play Richard's team in a League fixture tomorrow, so will take the opportunity to mention it to him again and make sure that he is under no doubts or false illusions.

Good news that Redhill will be sending 2 teams for the B Team competition....... looks like that just leaves Eastbourne (and perhaps Hastings?) to confirm for Division 2 for a full set of teams on both weekends...... 8-)

It would make things easier for me if captains could list their team on here. I could then get the names entered and will save time only having to do the draw. Thanks
Ive got Brighton B and Redhill B already

Unfortunately because its 7 teams this year it will be a late finish. If (and its a big if) it runs to time the last round of matches are at 8.20 although last year we did manage to get ahead of schedule.
