This will set the cats amongst the chickens...!!! (I did get severely laughed & heckled at when this came from mouth)
Limeburners 0 - 5 Stout House BB ;D
Steve 1400 Ricky 7040 - A solid 5.5k opener from Ricky set this win up Mick 3030 Adam 5590 - A gritty 4k opener from Adam was enough to nick this from a fast finishing Mick Tony.T BP Pete 2140 - A grinder of a game that came down to Tony BP'ing needing the 200 for victory Ding 1870 Junkie 3860 - Much closer then the score suggests! Junkie with a very late break to win it Chip 2990 Dick 4200 - Another close game with Dick's table time just more then Chip's
A great night topped off with some lovely sarnies & chips!!!

This will set the cats amongst the chickens...!!! Interesting metaphor! I think a fox would create more havoc amongst chickens, whilst cats are more of a threat to pigeons! LOL ;D ;D

Mill House 3 Windmill B 2
A pretty run-of-the-Mill result in the end, but only after an enormous headache being caused to tommo. >:( 6pm Sat down in the pub to eat, Margo had half rack of ribs and I had Lasagne with a side salad. Delish ! 7pm Took the cover off the table and gave it a nice iron to counteract all the moisture around at the moment. Margo and I had a quick muckaround on it but something did not seem quite right, everything pulling to the right. How could this be ? Table has not needed any altering since April this year, okay it has bouncy cushions which make getting the break in regularly a challenge, but no question about it not being level. Thoughts coming into my mind of possible sabotage... surely not - who would bother ? Tried straight balls into all the bottom pockets, everything curling round to the right. Decided to raise the back right hand corner, several twists had absolutely no effect, then I suddenly realised there was complete clearance of the carpet ! Gave it a yank back and it dropped from a little ledge where it had been resting ! Spent the next 45 minutes adjusting the legs, until it just went a quarter-ball away to the corner on both sides, but as straight as dammit. Playing slightly up-hill, but no time left to correct that, might have undone any good work done. Our opponents arrived, the whole match played in a genial atmosphere, no nasty comments, only laughs when a ball came back fiercely, hurtling towards a peg. Or when a player on either side left both balls up on the break. Scores not too bad and a fair result really for both teams. After the match, the guvnor breezes in, "of course, the table had been moved for the Children In Need evening, sorry we forgot to tell you" he says. Mystery solved. Emergency visit scheduled tomorrow afternoon by tommo, armed with his spirit level. ::)
Postscript.....(note on table care given for historical reasons) 1. Wound all legs right back down. Set table parallel to the wall. 2. Spirit level (brickies') showed a sloping floor, left side of table needing to be raised to compensate. 3. The required number of clockwise turns given on left-side leg adjusters till spirit level suggesting okay left to right. 4. A longitudinal check suggested table slightly uphill, raised both front legs half-a-turn. Level lest again. 5. Tested straight balls into 50 pockets, 30 pockets and 20 pockets. Left side perfect but slight drift to corner on the right hand 30......a quarter turn on back right hand leg adjuster corrected this. 6. Tried everything again, tested break, one-up, everything okay. 7. Quick once over with the smoothing block (no iron needed, as ironing given yesterday).
As easy as that !

LOL ;D ;D Actually our cats are scared stiff of the chickens, especially one of our gingers who got chased the length of the garden after stalking one chook

Mill House 3 Windmill B 2 The scores: Vicky 1980, Barry Dumbrill 1460 Johnny 1520, Mike Lennon 2790 tommo 5280, Gary Creswell 1160 Tony 3620, Lin Lennon 2300 Barry 1200, Steve Eely 2990 John and Barry not comfortable at all on the table but a good win for Vicky......Barry having a couple of goes for the 400 before Vicky put away the 100 at her second attempt. Mike played well for his win, and Lin led Tony for most of the game before Tony sealed it with a winning break.Lin has provided a wadge of photos from past Finals Night for me to sift through, these will be added in a matter of course to the website. 8-)
