Dun Horse 3 Southwater SC 2
Colin Bolton 1000 Mel Blake 5420 Stuart Hope 960 Keith Newman 5890 Dave Simmons 6990 Ray Manser 2490 Scott Hope 2530 Tony Franks 1170 Grant Hope 5440 Tony Temple 1150
Game 1: Mel made the most of the first game. Colin later claimed to have only played one decent shot in the whole game. Game 2: Both players made hard work of the first part of the game before Noggs got his head down. Game 3: Ray off early let Dave in for a steady 4k which proved enough. Game 4: Bizarre game in which Tony pegged more in breaks than the combined final score. ::) Scott gratefully in front at the end. :o Game 5: Slow start from both players. Tony lost a 700 break midway spurring Grant on for two 1k’s then played out for 2k5. ;D
A welcome return from 3 weeks off with a tight match that really could have gone either way. The Southwater team good company as always. Tasty sarnies & crisps to finish.

Mill House 3, Limeburners 2
Alan Downs 5070, Bill Hammond 1640 Barry Timson 4980, Rick the Dude 1710 tommo 7630, Brian Goodchild 860 Graham Daniels 3200, Dick the Dude 5080 Mr Mike 1920, Chippy 1950
Table wasn't easy tonight, had been moved out the back for New Years Eve, and I had to level it again which I attended to on Monday. The first three games were gobbled up by the home team but the visitors rallied really well in the last two, with Dick opening with 4900 and Graham breaking down when more than half-way to the target. The last frame was a cracker, with Chippy losing his opening break of - again - 4900, and Mick unable to cash in straight away. Chippy then posted 1300 on the scoreboard and this time Mick went past him with 1900, but left the break short on both balls, whereupon the bar went. Chippy potted everything down the 50 hole to leave himself a chance to win with the 100. Both players missed this twice, and a relieved Chippy sunk it at the third attempt.
Thanks to the 'Burners for a fun, good-natured evening, and to Billy for providing his famous pickled onions to complement a Mill House spread of sausage rolls, spring rolls, radishes and sliced peppers.

Stout A 3, Blue Ship 2
Tidy 2610, James 3510 Pete H 3800, Ding 1870 Sam 2910, Mick 2720 Pete T 1560, Colin 5400 Tony 1890, Steve 1800
A very close match, with Tony needing the 200 to win his game at 2-2! Sam was delighted with her win over Mick (to quote, "took no nonsense from the Johnsons"!), I held steady against Ding and Tidy & the Trigster had little luck in their games, with Colin showing how it should be done!
Another excellent evening with the Ship, and thanks to Barry for the sandwiches.
Pete

G Marshall 4380 Big Jim Silver Fox 3050 Tight game swinging one way then the other, young Gaz hit 2500 to sprint into lead, Jim came back with over 1K but time not on his side. This result has led to this statement from the young un 'That's two of the best players I have now beaten in the league' (referring to previous win against sniffer). Best widen your doors when we come to your place ::) T Goacher 1170 D Cable 4100 Dick had a slow start and I managed to get my nose in front, and that was about it from me. Dick played steady, while I was hell bent on hitting the wood, cost me a fortune :-[ G Jarrett 790 P Fisher 4220 Pete started well and put together a decent break, Graham took at least 3 visits to the table before he managed to hold onto the points. Pete remained fluent throughout the game to take the point. K Nixon 2290 L Cable 4750 A good game from both players, with Moose putting together a couple of decent breaks. Ken was not to be outdone and played his part in a decent game. B Hicks 1330 Twiggy 2480 A closer game than the result tells you. Bill was in front for most of the game only for Twiggy to find his form at the end and rattle in a decent break to snatch the point. Good evening, a nice fun way to start the new year off. The Roffey lads were as ever entertaining and at times quite complimentary so for that we are grateful.
