A close fought match on an uncharacteristically tricky Hurst top - possibly because the club was extremely cold. :o

But a good night, with great company and the usual nice refreshments from Ian.

Bravos still struggle and are firmly fixed at the bottom of the premier, but still have time to turn things around. Adam Bateup hit 6120 in the first against a determined Andy Guy and Richard Spurrier scored a classy 9980 in the next against Ron Wales to give the home side a healthy lead. Graham Sparksman grabbed a point for United Services with a win over Paul Moyes-Robb and Terry Gasson did the same to Lynne Moyes-Robb to force a decider. This went to Mick Kirwan with a 5K score against Nikki Hinkins.

Horns Lodge 1  Hurst A 4
Despite a useful win away from home, Hurst A’s lead is reduced to just 1 point. This turned out be a very low scoring match with Hurst taking the first 3 games to make sure of the win. First Peter Edwards closely beat Fenella S-F followed by Jenny Edwards closely beating Sam Hall. The third leg went to Pete Hall with a win over Josh Bryant and the visitors’ last point came as The Farmer took out Chris Farrow. The brush was avoided as Dave Tiffin won the last against a black pegging Rob Hall.

Plough 5  St Francis 0
This win puts Plough just one point behind Hurst A at the top of the table.  The first leg saw Jan Bithell put 5K past Shaun Morris and in the next game Richard Todd hit another 5K against Bob Ellis to make it 2 nil. Roger Wallbank fared no better as he went down to Chase Newman and the match was with the home side. Dave Knight took a gentler fourth frame from Peter Geal and the brush was applied as Darren Newnham hit a 5670 of his own against Chris Little who gave the Plough skipper a competitive game.
