Dear all
Many congratulations to the eighty or so players who took part on Sunday and to all who helped so much to make it a success. Jenny Parsons and Terry Alder for all the help on the day, Dave Alder for the tables and the photos, Pete Soanes and Marianne French for raising over £240 on the raffle to make our Association financially viable,to the Oxon Association and Pete for sharing their tables with us, to the Didcot Tory Club for the excellent food and venue, Dennis A and Dave T for setting up the tables so well for the Open ;) and all the captains for organising their teams so well for playing and scoring that I only had to shout at them once...
Without this day there would not be an Inter Area Association - it would mean charging £40 for every team entered in the Challenge cup and C-team shield!
The winners on the day were;
The Norrey Lambert 7-a-side Championship
Winners: Portsmouth (4th appearance in the final in six years)
Runners-up: Northampton
Highest break: Phil Collins (Wallingford) 15,950 (carrying on where he left off...)
The ProPlumb Shield for Ladies 5-a-side
Winners: Reading (for the second year running)
Runners-up: Oxford
Highest break: Debbie Surman (Witney) 6680
The Ray Sturgess under 22 Championship
Winner: Craig Mace (Oxford/Wallingford) (retained for the second year)
Runners-up: Callum Bowler (Oxford/Wallingford) (in his first year of bar billiards)
Highest break: Craig Mace 4370
Full details and averages will be in first Inter Area newsletter of 2013.
I got told off for helping to make a row when I had expressly asked people to keep the noise down during the under 22 Final after the main comp had finished... ::) :-[
Tony
PS Below is the winning Pompey team of (L to R) Dennis Claydon, Lee Radford, Tony Webster, Tony Woolvin, Barry Radford, Alan Chalenor and Chris Newson
