Good luck to those playing for the spoils tonight premier and 1st division to be settled The Premier Division title decider was played at the White Hart tonight, with both teams going into the match having lost only one game each all season.... 8-) White Hart v Duke of Wellington Game 1 - Jim Greensted v Henry Brooks Henry off on just over 2k when he missed a 10 split and came off at the back of the table, Jim got the break straight back and touched on 10k plus to take the opening game. Scores - 11,820 v 2,240* 1-0 to White Hart Game 2 - Martin Cole v Nigel Senior Martin off with just over 2k when he missed the same shot that Henry had come off on, Nigel first to get the break back and touched on 8.8k to level the match, Martin then played the rest of the table out. Scores - 4,580* v 8,820 Match all square at 1-1 Game 3 - Kevin Tunstall v Dave Ingram I opened with a slow 9.4k break coming off when I missed a pot in front of the left hand 50 hole having split all the way to then but leaving Kevin only about 7 minutes to chase it, he didn't look like missing as soon he got the break back. Scores - 7,930 v 9,450* 2-1 to Duke of Wellington Game 4 - Alan Messer v Chris Tupper Alan made a very good and steady opener of 10k plus to give Chris no chance then added some more at the end to force the decider. Scores - 13,720* v 310 All square again at 2-2 And so, for the second season running, the title would be decided by the final game of the final match of the season.... very exciting although there was definitely a lot of tension in the air! :o ;D Game 5 - Stuart Mepham v Mal Spier Mal got up to just over 2k with his opening break but then pushed the one-up behind just as he was starting to look settled. Stuart left the cue ball just short and slightly left of the 100 hole on the split that Mal had left and then managed to knock both white pegs over almost simultaneously trying to move the balls. Mal first to get the break back and made a slow and steady 5k break to seal the match for the visitors before adding a few more towards the end with Stuart knocking over the black peg with the last ball. Scores - 0 - 9,510* A tremendous finale to the season with nothing between the two sides all season, many thanks to the White Hart for their hospitality on the evening.... we look forward to playing them again in the Cup Final in a couple of weeks time which I am sure will be another very competitive and enjoyable evening. 8-)

Smugglers 0-5 Swan B
Not a great way to end the season as we were thrashed by an excellent Swan team, but our friends from the Charles Dickens did us a favour and beat the Cellar Bar so the Smugglers are Division 1 CHAMPIONS ;D ;D ;D
Congratulations to the Wellie on winning the Premier Division

Congrats to the Wellie, sounds like a cracking night, looks like a bit of nerves creeping in there with a few early breakdowns!
Also Congrats to the Smugglers on winning Div 1 despite getting whitewashed by us tonight :D haha (Thanks to Mr. Knight for giving us a running commentary of the other games!!)

Cellar Bar A 3-2 Tarring Club
No show from James Osbourne so Tarring club only had 4 men. Chris O & Jean were the other winners for the Cellar Bar.

Well done to the Wellie and the Smugglers. Can`t say we didn`t have chances. Foxy nailed the first with one chance, Nigel killed the second with one chance. Although Dave went in with 9400 in the third, I didn`t clear them straight away, but on my next visit then cleared with 7900 (about a minute wasted inbetween) :-/ Alan opened with enough against Tupps and it was only the last game where Chocie had two chances to clear the balls, but unfortunately couldn`t do it :P
If you`d said to me at the start of the season we would be playing for the title in the last match, I would have laughed, especially losing 3 regulars in Chunky, Lolly & Ricky. So I want to thank my team for this year and what they`ve achieved ;)
Also thanks to Gareth & Jaqi for their fantastic hospitality and great food. Roll on next season ;D

Charles Dickens 3 Cellar Bar B 2
Bill opened with 9k+ and touch just after the lights dimmed and one bulb blew, game finished with one light before changing it after Neil 1830 Bill 10650 0-1
Graham pegged his opener and gave Rick the break back Rick unfortunately did not take advantage and when Graham got the break back he made sure 7450 - 1680 1-1
Stev opened with 1.5k Tony replied with a couple and after a scappy period of play Steve was first to get it back 2680 -5750 1-2
TJ off early after struggling on the break, Nick did the same and the game became very scrappy and as the bar droppeed TJ in front by 100 and on the table but off stright away, Nick cleared the balls and sunk the 100 first attempt to deny TJ 3460-3250 2-2
Terry again strugled with the break as did Gary and this settled into who could add the most Gary got himself 2.5k up and Terry at last sussed lots and left and extremely thin on the break and settled about the chase but ran out of time 4790-3440 3-2
Thanks to the Charles Dickens for a fun evening and for the lovely spread at the end.

I only signed on for the White Hart as an occasional reserve this season, but enjoyed playing with the boys so much that I ended up turning out most weeks. Been a real pleasure!! :) See you in two weeks for the cup final 8-)
