10 1066 11 William the conquerer and Harald Hadrada 8 Invading anglo saxon brothers in the 5th Century 12 the invasion of the channel islandsin ww2 10 correct, 1pt, plus methinks a Hastings bonus. :D 11 correct, 1.5pts.....Normans and Norwegians 8 top answer, 2pts. According to legend, the first Saxon mercenaries. 12 Channel Islands yes (1pt), but you spoiled your answer by adding "in WW2". By 1943, there were 40,000 German military and civilians on the Channel Islands, or two for every three islanders - so it must have been difficult to move ! It was the French landing involving about 800 troops in Jersey, 1781. Leaderboard: 1 Daveuk 11.5pts 2 BB Warrior 9pts 3 GandalftheUntidy 6.5pts 4 Sav 3.5pts 5 SpecialOne 3pts 9,14,17 & 19 left.

9.The Great Heathen Army or Great Viking Army was a massed group of vikings from Denmark and Sweden. It was supposedly led by the sons of Ragnar Lodbrok as retribution for his death. 14. In Spain, during the Spanish Civil War. 17. Junior officers in the Army were nicknamed Ruperts, partially because it was a common name for young men from public school backgrounds and partially as a reference to Prince Rupert who fought with the Royalists in the English Civil War. Rupert was also the nickname for the dummies that were dropped as decoys during the Normandy landings. 19. American volunteers. (Before America joined WWII)
