9. Alaric I 14. German South West Africa, or more commonly known as Namibia 17. Egypt 24. Algeria? 9 correct, 1pt 14 top answer, 2pts 17 not the answer, but 0.5pt for a good guess. www.touregypt.net/chiste1.htmFrom the above article, it is apparent that the Coptic Church has existed as a minority religion from the beginning of Christianity. Some claim the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord was taken on a journey through Egypt to here.24 Again, a good guess for 0.5pt, but Algeria gained independence later, in 1962. The answer is a neighbouring country. Leaderboard: 1 BB Warrior 18.5pts 2 BigPhilMac 10.5pts 3 DaveJones 3pts Still 17) and 24) left.

24. Tunisia.... thinking of the Carthagian Empire here? :-/ 24 good try for 0.5pt but not the answer. Tunisia controlled by Arabs, then Ottomans, then Italians, and not French until circa 1880. The answer is an autonomous region, further south in those days than the country bordering Algeria that now bears its name. ;)

24. still the wrong side of Algeria, I'm afraid........look west, young man ! 24. The only thing that I can think of that is west of Algeria is Morocco...?? Morocco has more of a Spanish influence rather than French. West - and south - as per this earlier clue ! The answer is an autonomous region, further south in those days than the country bordering Algeria that now bears its name. ;)

Yes, Mali is spot on for the last point......... It's quite a surprising one, as there doesn't seem to be that much there - only Timbuktu maybe. But the Empire of Mandinka was very rich throughout the 13th - 16th centuries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mali_EmpireFinal points: 1 BB Warrior 19pts 2 BigPhilMac 12.5pts 3 DaveJones 3pts 4 SpecialOne 1pt
