We have been told we have one year left at the Mill House....... This article in this week's Crawley Observer: "The Mill House restaurant could close its doors and be turned into a seven-bedroom home after the owner decided the running costs were too high to continue the business. If plans go ahead, the restaurant and kitchens, which are situated in an extension on the Grade II listed building, would be demolished.
Two new five-bedroom houses would also be built on the grounds, in the garden and car park areas, for which a planning application has been submitted to Crawley Borough Council. It said the Mill House was listed in 1974 but the re-development would not harm the building's historical and architectural interest. However, demolishing the extension would conserve and enhance the building. A decision will be made on the development on June 25th."
This statement also appears on the restaurant's website: www.themillhouse.info/Development%20Statement.pdfHaving spoken to the owner, he has promised that things will remain the same from the teams' point of view for one more season. After that, he is seeking to remain a licensee and chef de cuisine, and to retain his usual clientele, which as I understand it means that whilst privately dwelling at the Mill House he will transfer the license to a smaller premises the same side of town - and that the teams will be welcome to join him ! So there we have it......one more year, so let's enjoy it ! :D And then a new adventure beckons, though from a personal point of view any new place will find it hard to match the Mill House for convenience and comfort.

Sadly we have to announce that the plan for the Mill House to revert to a private house has been brought forward and they will cease trading w.e.f. midnight on 31st Dec 2013.
We are confident of being able to fulfil our fixtures for the second half - both Leagues - and the Mill House confirm that our remaining match for December will be unaffected.
Our team's proposed new venue will be named once arrangements have been confirmed for definite.

Sadly we have to announce that the plan for the Mill House to revert to a private house has been brought forward and they will cease trading w.e.f. midnight on 31st Dec 2013. Well, that's it now, we saw the New Year in with one almighty party for 200 guests which went on till 1.30am with free bar after midnight. Tommo stayed on for half-an-hour after Margo had had enough, and got absolutely rat-ar$ed. Probably would have ended up in the Mill Pond had not a Good Samaritan appeared and guided/shouldered me home. Here the problems started as it took another half-hour of frantic knocking to be let in as I didn't have my key and our doorbell wasn't plugged in. Getting too old for this lark, we start 2014 with a dry-cleaning bill, Margo not speaking to me and no more Mill House. Our team are now homeless until this Saturday ! Good party and disco though !
