Evening Guys,
Marcus emailed me today and wanted to know why there was no Lewes Message Board. Truth is nobody ever asked, so here you go.
Marcus has kindly agreed to be your moderator, that basically makes him in charge. If anyone else wants to staff this forum, then please let me know.
Ok, well enough from me. Hope you all have fun.
Cheers

As a previous player in the Lewes league I am glad to see a Lewes message board up and running. Hopefully we will gain a few members from Lewes.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Its my hope that after a little bit of advertising, and a link from the lewes web site, we will see an influx of new members. (influx is that a word? ) :)

Kevin, do you know when the lewes masters is this year and when it will be held ?

Richard: Apparently the Lewes Commitee decided that the £70.00 needed for the hire of the extra table was too much, and have therefore decided to cancel this years Masters. I fully intend to be at the AGM in order to ensure this dosen't happen again in future years. I know that this will probably be your last year as a qualifying player ...........perhaps they just don't like stiff competition :)

Richard Yes as Marcus says there unfortunately will be no masters this year.I did try to organize a sponspor for the event but none were forthcoming.I am sorting out a proposal for the AGM to make sure this does not happen again after you set up & organized this competition for its opening 2 years. This is a great shame for those who have qualified this year. Kev.

I have copied your question over to the General Bar Billiards Area, more likely to get a response there than here. ;D

can anyone tell me the rule, when there is only two balls left on the table and none left in the tray, what happends if you have a douch oven. do you bring both balls back or let one fall in thhe hole then carry on? nb Okay, this is the nearest I can get by researching the term on the web: more excitement can be brought into wedlock if administered in a Dutch Oven: this is where one partner lets go a huge fart, pulls the duvet cover or bed sheets over the head of their loved one, trapping them in a confusion of methane, while shouting triumphantly, 'Dutch oven! Dutch oven!' The person trapped will wriggle like an eel, the trapper will then nearly die laughing and it will all end up in a really boisterous play fight. Of course, this is all in questionable taste

Here is the other (correct) part of the answer to your question Nigel, courtesy of Tommo / Captain Haddock.........
Seriously, the question being about 2 balls balanced over a hole: 1. There is a definitive All-England Rule to cover it. 2. There is also a Channel Islands Rule to deal with it which is different.
So, depending on where you are, the situation is redressed by one ball (the nearest) being returned to the rack and the other one placed on the edge of the pocket next to where it would have dropped, either at the end of the break (England) or immediately (Channel Islands).

Kev What if they are hanging over the 10 hole. I suppose that it would have to be the one nearest to the front of the table that was returned, with the other ball being left on the edge of the 10 hole......?? :-/

Kev What if they are hanging over the 10 hole. What are the chances of them being Symetrical and Exactly up the centre?
