Looking forward to the final on Wednesday evening at the Railway, sure we will have a good evening there as there is normally a very warm welcome.... even though the table can be quite challenging, so hopefully somebody will be giving it a quick check before the final to make sure that it's level, brushed, pockets cleaned and also the balls..... as I remember that the last time I played there the balls were so dirty that it was hard to tell which one was the red....!!

BBW - Table has been levelled as best possible, brushed, pockets cleaned & the match balls inserted. Best of Luck to both teams!!! Thanks Skippy, much appreciated.... we certainly had a close match and a very enjoyable evening. White Hart 3 Laughing Fish 2 Kevin Tunstall 3,240 - 3,090 Dave Ingram A couple of goes at the break each during the course of the game meant it was always going to be close, with KT on the table when the bar dropped and he did enough to make the last ball irrelevant.... which was quite lucky as I think we both had 3 or 4 goes at the 100 hole. 1-0 Martin Cole 4,350 - 4,000 Henry Brooks Martin opened with 1.7k, Henry replied with a good 3.5k but the balls then stayed at the back of the table, Martin first to get the break back and managed to catch Henry before coming off just before the bar dropped, Henry not able to take advantage and Martin then got enough to make sure after the bar had dropped in a repeat of the first game. 2-0 Stuart Mepham 870 - 6,370 Bill Kerr Three or four breaks from Bill proved to be more than enough with Stuart unable to get going at all. 2-1 Martin Cole & Stuart Mepham 300 - 6,140 Henry Brooks & Dave Knight The scoreline is a not a fair reflection of what was the best game of the night, Martin was up to well over 5k in his opening break when he missed the red ball on a split shot and left himself in a very awkward position and clipped the white peg trying to move it and keep the break going.... Henry then opened with 5k himself and touched to make sure of the game. 2-2 Kevin Tunstall & Gareth Cornford 4,080 - 2,260 Bill Kerr & Dave Ingram Bill opened with just over 1k, KT off early but was then first to get the break back and got up to 2k before pushing his one up behind, Gareth added a useful break of 800 to extend the lead before I got the break back with just about enough time left to try to catch them but broke down on the way.... game over. 3-2 Congratulations to the White Hart on their victory..... many thanks to the Railway Inn for their hospitality on the evening and also to Billingshurst Bar Billiards League for their invitation to play in the competition again this year, we have thoroughly enjoyed our games this summer and look forward to entering again next year.

Slightly garbled writeup in this week's WSCT, with a tiny picture of the winning team. Much lost in translation, with KT described as 'World Billiards Champion'. Am having to coax the new Sports Editor along, hopefully Ian and JT will have better luck with him as the season progresses.
