Wind and rain was pretty impressive last night down near Worthing in West Sussex, mainly just blustery showers left now around here. We have come out of it pretty unscathed apart from some of the next door neighbours fence panels (which were falling apart anyway) ending up strewn around our garden and a telephone line coming down across the garden and adjacent road..... to hear that a couple of people have been killed in the storm though.

Glad I made an early start home yesterday as well, there were hundreds of people with the same idea on the First Great Western, they left people standing on Reading station who could not get on! There were eleven of us squashed into the vestibule on the coach! Could not move an inch! Sav

We were supposed to get the brunt of it last night but somehow it came your way instead, we stayed up last night on 'storm watch', there is a 300 year old Oak less than 12ft from the cattery and a 50ft high Eucaluptus in the front garden, so we were ready to evacuate the cats into the house if/when it really blew, but on the day (night) the wind wasn't much stronger than we normally get (which is quite strong), we made hourly investigations around the cattery all through the night but to be fair I've seen more wind after a decent curry
