Dun Horse 3 Alfold SC 2
Scott Hope 3330 Dave Slater 1500 Colin Bolton 2620 Malcolm Greening 1330 Dave Simmons 1600 Cliff Greening 1700 Grant Hope 2380 Garry Fishburn 2480 Keith Etheridge 3010 Robin Burgess 1620
Game 1: Dave started well, Scott overtook and kept the lead. Game 2: A 1200 break from Colin kept the Major at bay. Game 3: Dave pegged a 3k early on, Minor on the table at the bar to clinch the game. Game 4: Garry in front at the bar, Grant needed 1 ball for a chance at the end but potted both. Doh! Game 5: Supersub Keith in fine form. A bizarre miscue left a ball so close to the Black peg that Rob couldn't shift it without toppling. Timber...!!!
A fun evening with the Alfold lads with plenty of jovial banter, especially during the deciding game.

Springbok Club 2 Limeburners 3
In order of play
M Edwards 1050 M Davies 2700
Mark started brightly and looked like he was going to but a big score in, but then left up short. Mike chipped away, but kept finding the wood! Mark stayed in control to make it 1 - 0 to the Burners
G Marshall B Hammond
Bill left the first split short letting Gaz in with a 1K break. Bill came back at him, but was finding the split a little indifferent and Gaz piled on another grand to steal the point.
A Goacher 620 B Goodchild 2350
Brian started well putting decent points on the board. Alice was struggling a bit and blamed her dad for being in the room!!!! Brian kept the pressure on to claim the game.
T Goacher 2740 R Dewdney 2080
Rick flew out of the blocks but was unlucky to peg out a decent score. I managed to put a grand up, but as expected Rick came straight back. I game that either player could have one, but perhaps I managed the quirks a little better on this occasion.
B Hicks 1970 C Sawyer 3860
Chip got the measure of the break early on and recorded a decent break. Bill as ever was solid and nibbled away some of the points. Chip's experience was the winning factor in this game, working the table well to claim the result for his team.
A really great night, decent grub supported by Bills onions, which are working twice as hard now!!!

Railway 4 Stout House Z 1
Mark 2530 Andrew 1220 Mark in control of a low scoring game, Andrew couldn't get started.
Adam 4520 Vern 1280 Vern had the break a couple of times, missed at straight pot on the 50 from 2 inches but did beat Andrews score. Nice 3K break from Adam made it safe.
Mick 4760 Richard 440 Score does not reflect the game, Rich unlucky to peg out when going well.
Steve 7370 Junkie 1370 Master class from Sniffer, once again he is Johns nemesis!
Nigel 1230 Rick 3220 Rick played well for the point, Nigel had one of those nights.
As always a great evening with the Stouty boys lots of laughs finished of by 'whats it like to win a drink' for Rick.
Nice food from Stella to round it all off.

Les Trois Boussoles 0, Maison de Moulin 5 Absolutely smashing evening with the Compasses lads who are on a steep learning curve and already demonstrating a good range of shots. Closest game was the battle of the CT's with young Carl having 60/40% possession and tommo only winning because he kept what he scored. The other four mouleniers were all wearing their 'lucky pants' (supposedly only reserved for the home team) Andy Scotcher | 470 | Mick | 7370 | Jacob Ereira | BP | Barry | 5160 | Carl Tudor | 1320 | Clive | 2770 | Darren Cross | 950 | Alan | 3490 | Jason Duncton | 1190 | Graham | 4680 |
The old place has changed a bit since my last visit which must be over 30 years ago.....could still envisage where the table used to be (in the main bar) and Jack Covey reaching up for the posthorn and giving an enormous blast on it when the Thayres, Barnett, Picking gave us a good hiding one night. Evening capped with a delicious chilli con carne with fluffy rice and big tasty chips. Yummy !
