I am with Milko and Ian on the dress code issue Ian should agree to wear the Dicky Bow if everybody agrees to wear the shorts next year I agree it looks smart and is tradition, but we are not on Sky television yet. I can think of several players over here that would not bother to dress up if they qualified. As a sport we should not discriminate against anyone who wishes to play and turn up in the same kit they do for all the other Opens. Waistcoats and Dicky Bows are for dining out, not for playing a pub game IMHO

Keith, I reckon finish time around 7-7.30pm, but that is banking on 12 tables from Dave which I am checking. Please give me your decision asap as in fairness to reserves I would like to give them as much notice as possible. Nige You'll need to talk to Dave Alder on table availability as I was not expecting to have to bring the Twickenham table up this weekend and to be there early enough for it to be set up.
I was planning on bringing it up for the AGM which is cheaper for AEBBA as I'm driving anyway.
Let me know ASAP please..
Sav.

Same as all other AEBBA comps, unless otherwise advised,
Though last year the GP did not start in the first series.

Tony has asked me what time it starts and whether it would start any earlier in order to get all of the competitions in. Cannot start any earlier as rules say 1130hrs. There is normally a photoshoot for GP before games commence so play starts slightly later but GP players still need to be there. Sav

Congratulations to Phil Collins on his victory in the Grand Prix today, beating Curt Driver in the final, both players had been on great form all day with Phil running out table after table including a 21,880 in the Group to win the High Break Award. Phil beat Kevin Tunstall in the semi-finals, while Curt had beaten Simon Coleman. Many thanks to Dave Alder, Phil Hawkins, Andy & Janet Burns for all their hard work on the day, another excellent competition at the Post Office club.

Congratulations to Phil and a good day also for Curt reaching the final. Also well done to Kevin and Simon on winning their groups, no mean feat considering the quality of every player taking part.

Well done to the winners. Looking forward to seeing the photograph of everyone in their bow ties If you can't wait, Norman, there's one on face book. (haven't seen a ladies picture yet ) They all look like turkeys dressed up for Christmas! Very smart but I don't think it's the attire to play Bar Billiards in! I wonder how many kept it all on while playing ? milko

(haven't seen a ladies picture yet ) They all look like turkeys dressed up for Christmas! Very smart but I don't think it's the attire to play Bar Billiards in! I wonder how many kept it all on while playing ? milko I seriously think that someone has go this whole bow tie wearing attitude badly wrong. We are all different. Some are more different than others. Wearing shorts and dressing casual in not particularly controversial. Many of us throughout the bar billiards world play often in shorts during the summer. If a guy who has qualified for the Grand Prix feels uncomfortable about wearing a bow tie, why do others make him feel more uncomfortable for lambasting him for refusing to wear one. If there was a dinner party after the event where bow ties were obligatory, that would be a different matter. As a sport we should not discriminate against race, religion or any other quirky matters that could discourage and exclude any players by the way they dress. I would feel highly embarrassed if I played in a tournament where someone gets made to feel uncomfortable in the same dress code that he turns up to in the competitions that got him there as a qualifier in the first place. I think there should be a disclaimer on all Open entry forms stating this. 'There is no dress code for players in this competition. However if you qualify for the Grand Prix as a result of doing well in this competition the rules re dress code will change.'
