The League Champions beat the pretenders to their title 3-2 in the penultimate Billingshurst League match to be held at the Mill House.......
Mill House 2, Roffey SSC 3
Alan 3050, Moose 2010 Mr Mike 2550, Twiggy 3990 Graham 3020, Debtor 4160 tommo 9340, Dementia 1370 Barry 2370, Wolfie 7730
A close and at times tense match here tonight but with some classic lighthearted moments. Moose flirted with Peggy Sue and must have lost more than he kept, allowing Alan to clinch it with a good break at the end. Roffey then did very well to go to 2-1 up. Even the re-christened 'Wolfie' struggled to make an impact early on but then found the 'split' which tommo had been careful not to show him !
With top playing bottom elsewhere, should make a very interesting league table after tonight !

Dun Horse 3 Southwater SC 2
Colin Bolton 1140 Keith Newman 3330 Grant Hope 1530 Tony Franks 3370 Stuart Hope 1870 Mel Blake 1860 Dave Simmons 3810 Tony Temple 3530 Scott Hope 5470 Ray Manser 2070
Game 1: A bit of a scrappy affair, Noggsy got a break going towards the end to take the first game. Game 2: Franksey opened up with a couple of 1k5 breaks before the game turned scrappy, Grant made the best of the second half but not enough. Game 3: Pops looked to have the game sewn up before pegging 1k5 just before the bar, Mel pulled in front, Pops sunk the 100 to win by 10. Phew. Game 4: An early 3k from Dave put the pressure on. Tony very nearly caught up but ran out of time. Game 5: Scott never really in trouble, a 3k midway sealed it.
Table a bit tricky tonight in it's new position, probably affected by the weather. A fun evening tonight, rounded off with some tasty sandwiches and a game of doubles on the pool table.

I believe Tarratts moved the table, whether they levelled it or not I'm unsure. It definitely got better as the night progressed. I did find it was very draughty scoring the second game but I later found the outside door had been left open and it was a cold night. I do think that the table fits in quite nicely and although viewing is a bit limited, it does allow the two teams to mingle a lot more.
