Laughing Fish 3 - 2 Glynde Club
David Ingram 0 v 2250 Sandy Harmer Bill Kerr 4090 v 1770 Nigel Pead Tony Jenner 2700 v 1380 Alec Pope Ian Lelliott 6040 v 890 Fred Pope Henry Brooks 2220 v 4980 Colin Southouse
Dave opened well with a nice 6k break leaving Sandy a mountain to climb, but Sandy kept plugging away unsuccessfully until late in the game when he got the break back, was chasing down the deficit broke down on 2k leaving Dave to take the well earned point but then.....a rush of blood made BBW try a shot round the black peg, felling it to the disbelief of all present, definately a deja vous event and he didn't purchase any of my special tablets!. the bar followed shortly after and Sandy took the 1st game against the play. Nigel was off early in the 2nd and Bill kept finding ways of losing his breaks regularly, Nigel opened up a 1k lead and kept it for the major part of the game but with 5min to go Bill at last recovered the break and made a nice 3.5k to make the 2nd game go the visitors way despite lipping round the 50 and almost taking the black on the bar, have to say the expressions on warriors face and the rest of his team was a delight to see. tony and Alec both struggled with the tricky Star top off break Alec was always playing catch up on Tony but didn't recover the break for the whole game and that was enough to give Tony the 3rd game. Fred had the break but left it short on more than 1 occasion gifting Ian easy openings, which handed the game and match to the fish. Colin opened the last game with a 2k, henry replied with his own 2k, Colin returned the favour with another 2k leaving both up on a split henry took full advantage and was working on a game winning 3.5k when another peg came to Colins rescue another small break was enough for Colin to take enough time to leave Henry no chance of recovery. Another great evening with the gigglers with plenty of ups and downs and plenty of fun for both sides, Some nice Pizzas from Dave the landlord who sadly will be leaving us at the end of March. good luck to The Fish in the Final and thanks to our 2 last minute reserves for making up the numbers

Wow.... "a rush of blood".... anyone reading that I would think that I had attempted a "Jim Millward Special".... when the reality was that all I did was take the pace off the ball a bit to try to stop it whipping at the back and that resulted in the cue ball rolling two-thirds of a ball right in the distance between the D and the Black Peg! Perhaps there is something on a certain point on the D that causes that to happen.... ....Henry had a similar roll on one shot when he tried to get inside a ball up the middle to get the cue ball into the 100 hole.... only to see the cue ball go straight down the right hand 30 hole because it went so far right on him, but as it was played at pace so went past the BP but it was still a shot that is probably almost impossible from the position the balls were in. The table would definitely benefit if a new D and red spot were provided, at present there are only a couple of places on the D that you can trust it to stay in the position that you want it and the red spot also lets the ball slide forward or back when trying the postion a ball on it. No complaints from me, all part of the game and as the old saying goes "it's the same for both teams".... agree entirely with you that our faces when Bill nearly knocked the BP down at the end of his game would definitely have made a very good picture!

Fair enough BBW, just chose the phase as on a previous shot with a ball in a similar position you changed your mind and went off the side cush. Anyway i think we may have to come up with phrase for BBW..... answers on a post card or pm to warrior Black Bashing Wonder seems appropriate regs cs

Big Bald Wa**er has made regular appearances over the years! The shot that I played off the side cushion was dead central, I could see almost half the ball on the shot where I hit the BP and had previously played 2 similar shots a missed the black peg by miles.... I do not think that I put any right hand side of the ball and the only different thing was the pace that I played the shot at, which I had reduced as on the previous occasions the balls had whipped out of the holes at the top but whatever it was sure made a big difference. On the plus side, I think that Stewart may let me keep the Black Peg if I knock it over during the match next week as that would be the third time running that I had done that at the Star....

Perhaps Stewart and I will have a nice ceremonial burning of the black peg next week.... .... it will probably be better to do it BEFORE the game though if we want to score anything!

Perhaps Stewart and I will have a nice ceremonial burning of the black peg next week.... .... it will probably be better to do it BEFORE the game though if we want to score anything! That will reduce you to playing 2-Pin. At least if you start with the correct number (Four) you can still have a game with what remains after the ceremonial pyre. Anyway i think we may have to come up with phrase for BBW..... answers on a post card regs cs Judging from Colleen's avatar (and the red anorak she wears sometimes) and bearing in mind we already have a Foxy, I'd say BBW stands for "Big Bad Wolf".

That will reduce you to playing 2-Pin. At least if you start with the correct number (Four) you can still have a game with what remains after the ceremonial pyre. Tommo, you give me such wonderful (naughty) ideas.... a ceremonial burning of one pin in every 4-pin set would mean that everybody could play the game properly! As for the suggestions for what "BB" stands for.... there are clearly so many options available that it will probably keep Gandalf amused for ages and I am also enjoying the friendly banter and ribbing that he is giving me after our match on Monday night.... sometimes we all take ourselves and this game a bit too seriously, but it's important to remember that we all play the game for fun and life is much better with a bit of laughter along the way!

Never before has a truer word been spoken. Oh - and I'm quite partial to fried mushrooms, b.t.w.
