Hi All
Around 9 years ago a band of Northants reprobates embarked on a challenge to play a full match of bar billiards in 8 counties in 1 weekend. As many of you who took part and supported us in the event will know, this was an amazing weekend and raised a lot of money for cancer research. So, as we are now 9 years on I think it only fitting that we undertake the challenge again but make it even harder for ourselves and try for '9' counties this time. The schedule last time was amazingly tight as we got to our last venue at 8pm on the Sunday night so this year will be an amazing challenge if we can pull it off. This is just an initial heads up from myself and Simon Coleman to generate interest of people and counties willing to support us in our venture. Rough date for the event is August/September this year and I know Simon has already contacted a few people to get the ball rolling. It would be great if everyone could support this in some way and hopefully we can top our figure of over £4,400 which we achieved last time after gift aid! List of Counties we would like to play in is (in no particular order) : Cambridgeshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire
Many Thanks
Jase Neal

How great that Northants are doing this again and I'm sure we all support your worthy cause. This Forum had just started at the time you did the first one, and at the time that represented an early triumph of communication. This writeup can be found on the Sussex website: www.sussexbarbilliards.com/8_counties_challenge.htmAnd a framed certificate hangs proudly on the wall of the Old Oak from the time of your visit there for the Surrey leg.

Just to let everyone know that I have willingly agreed to organise the Sussex round of the event, and look forward to the fun and fund raising equally.
Easily the most difficult part will be choosing players from the enormous wealth we have in Sussex, and will try to find a way of representing as many of the various county leagues as possible (as before), whilst remembering this is not about choosing our strongest team either (as before), and hope I do not upset all those not asked to play.
The venue will need to be nearest possible for the convenience of the 'tourists' but suitable for the event and will be checking out my ideas.
If anyone has ideas, or wishes to help, please let me know.
Graham

We can confirm that the date will be the 30/31 August 2014. Every County is now confirmed and we would like to add that the response from everyone has been fantastic and well above our expectations. In the next few days we will contact various people from each County to start to arrange the venues etc. As mentioned above our aim is to raise money for this much deserved charity but also to bring the Bar Billiards community together and have some fun along the way. If anyone has any other ideas on things we can do at venues etc while we there please let us know.

Great news that we have now confirmed 8 Counties for our challenge. Oxford, Bucks, Berks, Hamps, Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Northants. Its also fantastic news that I've heard some money has been raised already prior to our visit. Thanks to all thoose involved in taking the time in arranging venues and teams for our challenge. Our Team will consist of Simon Coleman, Jason Neal, Stephen Coleman, Damian Coates, Andy Chambers, Stevie Anscombe, Ben Foster & Iestyn Pocock. We were hoping to make it a 9 County challenge but unfortunately we could not make it happen, but I'm sure it will still be a great success and hopefully we can raise a much money as possible for such a worthy cause and create some awareness for Bar Billiards on the way. We now have our Just Giving Account up and running, so if you would like to make a donation to our cause to Help raise as much money for Cancer Research we have enclosed the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Coleman2014/

Hi, Sorry but a trip up to Yorkshire may put us out a bit, however we do have a just giving page, and would be fantastic if you could advertise this in your league so we can donate as much as possible for such a great cause! Looking forward to the Future, it would be great if once this is all sorted, we could arrange a friendly some time and try and get Yorkshire Bar Billiards on the map! www.justgiving.com/Simon-Coleman2014/Regards Stephen (Colemanjnr)

We've put up a message promoting the challenge on our website: www.yorkbarbilliards.com/ Hope it might help bring in some extra donations. Best of luck with it - it sounds like it'll be a great weekend. Any time you fancy visiting us up north you'll be very welcome!
