A quick resumee, IanG may wish to enhance/add to this later..........
A rather disappointing turnout, but with a total of six apologies for non-attendance received.
Chairman in his report paid tribute to his fellow Committee members who had had more than one difficult decision to make, but had always tried to act out of fairness - though not always pleasing everyone ! New L/V/P Sparky's help in preparing tables for events had once more proved invaluable. He concluded by highlighting exploits by certain of our players at County and National level, and our Interleague teams continue to grow in strength with the Men's side winning Div.Two of the One-Day competition.
League Secretary drew reference to some problems over 2 unplayed matches but all-in-all it had been a good year. He thanked the Roffey Club for their continued support in allowing us to hold our major events and committee meetings there. Finals Night was well received, and he made a special mention of Competitions Secretary Steve Hopkins who had performed brilliantly in his two seasons in the job, but who was unfortunately now standing down.
The accounts were adopted, with the League remaining on an even keel, and as a result the Treasurer recommending no increase in fees.
One rule amendment was passed, this being a simplification of the criteria for award of the divisional Best Performance Cups. This will now be for the most league games won (and fewest lost if a tie on wins) to bring us in line with most other leagues.
The new Committee was chosen, which is not far removed from the old one, with Stuart Carruthers becoming Competitions Secretary, replacing Steve Hopkins who remains on the general committee. And Dick Dewdney moves up to fill the vacant Deputy Chairman's position with Joanne Hopkins filling the vacancy thus created.
