clive, the 4 pin open you were intending to do at the millhouse, are you intending to ressurrect it at the windmill? nice venue and probably big enough? just an idea!

Well as you aware, Gandalf staged one along similar lines at the Royal Eastbourne Hospital Club on 31st May, won by Phil Osborne with his dad Bob the runner-up. This replaced the need for mine and Colin's parting shot was 'your turn next year'. Though immensely enjoyable and I was very glad we made the effort to attend (not least for the delicious breakfast that was served up !) we did feel that Colin was let down a bit in the form of "dropouts", and I would imagine that he struggled to balance the books. With hiring of tables from Tarratts involved, any competition I ran would have to have a guaranteed lineup of 30 and not just the 18 who bothered to turn up for Colin. Even so it would not be a full-bloodied 'Open' but rather an invitational event. I will have to see what sort of interest there is in 4-Pin round about April or May next year.

I think you can reckon on upto 9 from Eastbourne/Hastings willing to play, we had 2 tables which were booked for our finals weekend so the cost was covered by that comp, the entrance fee nearly covered the trophy fees, perhaps 12 from crawley/Horsham so looking for about 9 from elsewhere, plenty of time for canvassing for the balance good hunting tommo

Okay Colin I'll speak to you nearer the time on which of us is going to stage the next one. Suggest we wait till after Sudbury 2015, as that will be the best way to gauge the interest. From Sept to March we tend to forget all about 4-Pin whilst the Winter league is in full swing.
Regards, tommo

would suggest having details available at sudbury! maybe a few of them would be willing to travel south! I would stress, Chris, that if it were me staging one, it would be an 'invitation' event rather than an 'Open' event. All those who took part in Gandalf's Invitational on 31st May would get a repeat invite, plus our local players, plus a few others from the Western half of the county (KT/Hayley, Mal Spier, the Newsons etc). And yes - Dave Lillee and Chris Cass from Sudbury, as they are brave enough to enter 3-Pin competitions and don't appear to mind a long journey. And don't discount Colin from having to run it again - he is far more motivated than me and I am planning to jack in the playing side of my career very shortly.

Dun Horse A | Score | Windmill GG | Score | Ian Giffen | 1140 | Mick Holmwood | 1820 | Paul Jobbins | 1430 | Clive Thompson | 1210 | Graham Sparksman | 860 | Tony Franks | 1580 | Ian Giffen | 1390 | Mick Holmwood | 880 | Paul Jobbins | 1490 | Clive Thompson | 1900 | Graham Sparksman | 560 | Tony Franks | 1830 | Result | 2 | Result | 4 |
Both sides battled valiantly and Tony the difference once again for us, Graham drawing the short straw. Paul and Ian both good value in the frames they took off us. Thanks to the Dun for making it a good sociable evening. I wonder how the Pamplona run went ? [edit - aha so still 1.5 points in it and the destiny of the title lies in the hands of YO Stout House.]

Nice friendly match with Steve ,Stu and Rob who were targeting the high scoring pockets to great effect, hope we are all going to Sudbury this year regs cs Congratulations to the rampant Big Bulls on managing the 5 points they needed to become champions. Some mighty impressive scoring, with all five won frames over 3k and destined for the hall of fame board. Worthy winners !

Congratulations to the Big Bulls on a well deserved win. Some amazing scores. Some great scores indeed Ian, I think the bar has just been moved up a notch or two and a 10k match score is no longer a pipedream, nige and curt will have their work cut out against our hot Hastings properties on the Sudbury market. I note that these delicate shots are 10 times easier to play on a familiar table So well done to my team Phil, Peter and Bob (and reserve Stewart).

congratulations to our sister team, always going to be a tough team to beat! but maybe next years league should now be handicapped? do you mean adding a 5th mushroom No I think we'll just make a simple change to the scoring system.......2pts for a match win, 1pt for a drawn match and 0pts for a defeat. Let me see now, could I manage that retrospectively ? Yes, all I'd have to do is swap the plates round on the winners and on the runners-up trophy ! Last year's final table: Team P W D L F A Pts 1 Mill House 6 3 2 1 18 18 8 2 Bull (Hen.) 6 2 3 1 22 14 7 3 Malt Shovel 6 2 2 2 18 18 6 4 Dun Horse A 6 1 1 4 14 22 3
