Good quiz ! A mixture of English history and the criminal mind. Easy ones first...... 1 The electric chair.......I'd have willingly flicked the switch myself ! 7 Derek Bentley. His execution is generally believed to be a miscarriage of justice as he was 'simple' and possessed a gentle nature. Did he mean "give him the gun" when he said "let him have it, Chris" ? 9 Hung drawn and quartered. 11 King Edward V and his younger brother Richard, taken from their mother Elizabeth Woodville into 'care' by Uncle Richard. Some care, as he locked them up in the Tower of London and seized the throne for himself! They were either starved to death or murdered. 20 Fred West....until she confessed I always thought Rose was innocent !

10 Charles I repeatedly asserted his divine right to rule, and used this as excuse to dissolve parliament and try and rule without one. He also raised his own army to march on the army of parliament, for which he was found guilty of treason against his own realm.
6. Francis Dereham (prior to the marriage) and Thomas Culpepper.
4. Vlad the Impaler, or his female counterpart Elisabeth Bathory of Hungary.
3. A medieval torture device: victims were locked inside and fires lit around the inside so as the victims were burnt alive. Clever acoustics converted the screams into noises sounding like a real bull for the amusement of onlookers.

I was thinking during the marriage, but you may have two points for the first guy. 4. Not the guy I was thinking of, this is true in the sense of being in charge and ordering deaths etc. but the guy (or gal) I'm thinking of had victims to his name that he murdered all by himself. Think cults. 3. A magnificent yet pretty nasty device indeed. The best bit about this is that the first test subject of the bull was indeed the inventor!!!! 2pts

Think cults. 4 Thug Behram, then, the leader of the Thuggee cult ? (900-odd victims) I would however recommend Vlad the Impaler and Elisabeth Bathory to you for some interesting research......Neither exactly leaders ordering deaths: Vlad was handy at creeping up behind unsuspecting victims with the chicken wire, and Liz was reputed to drink and bathe in the blood of her victims, inspiring Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Thug Behram it is, he used to do it with the string he had his amulet on! 1.5pts Liz was a bit of a nutter wasn't she. She was arrested of course but never stood trial, just remained incarcerated in some castle. Tommo 17pts

17 One state, can't remember which, has been using some cheap dodgy drugs. There have been at least 2 cases when it took the recipient ages to die. One man actually died of a heart attack whilst waiting for the drugs to do their thing. 2 Murder, treason, and arson in his/her majesties dockyards.
