Well, cricket is the order of the day with England excelling in the current series v India. So here is number two of three more cricket quizzes, this time on England, to accompany the final test at the Oval......
1 Devon Malcolm famously took 9 for 57 against South Africa in 1994: Which England bowler took the other wicket ? 2 Which South African scored 94 in that innings and wasn't dismissed by Malcolm ? 3 Four of England's five bowlers in that match were born outside England. Devon Malcolm was one, who were the other three ? 4 Which batsman captained the England Lions in their 2012 game against the West Indies ? 5 Who took 7 for 109 for England in the 2006/07 Ashes Test in Adelaide ? 6 Which England selector won his only Test cap on England's victorious 1986/87 Ashes tour ? 7 Why was England's timeless Test against South Africa in 1939 cut short ? 8 How many ODI centuries did Ian Botham score ? 9 Which batsman played in 88 ODIs for England between 1989 and 2003 but never won a Man of the Match award ? 10 What do Archie MacLaren, Allan Lamb, Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen and most recently Alastair Cook all have in common ? 11 Who is the only person to play Test cricket for both England and India ? 12 Who holds the record for the most Test match "not outs" by an England batsman ? 13 Who captained England on their 2005/06 Test tour to India ? 14 Which pair of Sky commentators hold the record for England's highest tenth-wicket Test partnership against India ? 15 Who holds the record for the most Test match defeats as England captain ? 16 Who is the oldest player to play for England in a T20 international ? 17 Who is the only England batsman with a career Test match batting average of over 60 ? 18 Which England bowler, who shares his name with a character from children's TV, was the first man to take 100 Test wickets ? 19 Who has scored the most Test runs for England without scoring a century ? a)Mike Brearley; b)John Emburey; c)Ashley Giles. 20 Who scored the most Test centuries out of a)Paul Collingwood; b)Mike Gatting; c)Robin Smith.
1pt per correct answer. No more than five answers in any one 4-hour period, please. Good luck !

1. Darren Gough - it was famous because Devon got hit on the helmet, think the England badge may have fallen off and think it was the brilliantly named 'Fanie' De Villiers who sconed him!! 2. Daryl Cullinan 5. Matthew Hoggard, mind you Australia did get over 500!! 8. A Big Fat Zero 9. Herbert Sutcliffe - I notice that Joe Root now averages over 50 following his very profitable series

Sutcliffe is the answer to one of the other questions, but he retired long before 1989 (before the start of WWII in fact). Leader: Silent 6.5pts

D'oh I meant number 17 for Herbert! 17. correct (1pt) A pretty impressive average, some of those old England maestros (Hammond, Hobbs, Hutton) could certainly bat a bit ! In modern times only Brian Lara (Ave: 52.88) and the South African Jacques Kallis (Ave: 55.37) can hold a candle to them. And then there's Donald Bradman of course who just missed out on averaging a ton ! Leader: Silent 7.5pts

20 Well if it is not Gatting, he has the same number as Collingwood, both 10 and then R.Smith, the judge has 9 so a bit of a struggle with that one

3 Phil defreitas, Joey Bejamen, and I guess Graham Hick might have bowled. 19 I am going for Ashley Giles. John Embury was the only England player to score 1000 runs without a ton. Pretty sure he spoilt that and got his ton, something the great Shane Warne missed out on, silly run to go for Shane.

John Embury was the only England player to score 1000 runs without a ton. Pretty sure he spoilt that and got his ton, something the great Shane Warne missed out on, silly run to go for Shane. 16 Paul Nixon correct, 1pt 9 correct, 1pt 3 all correct, 3pts 19 Emburey was spot on, according to Wikipedia, never made a test ton. He also holds a strange batting record for the highest innings made entirely from boundaries. Despite his chronic lack of footwork, he scored 46 for the England XI against Tasmania at Hobart in 1986-87, with ten fours and a six. 1pt plus a bonus point for the Shane incident. Shame ! The missing answers: 15) Mike Atherton 18) Johnny Briggs Final points: 1. Silent 12.5pts 2. SpecialOne 7pts 3. BigPhilMac 4pts 4. BB Warrior 3pts 5. Boball 1pt
