Dear Ladies
Would you kindly indicate below if you intend to enter this event which will be held at the Didcot Conservative Club.
Nigel/Dave will then get an idea of numbers entering.
Many thanks Chris

It appears we have only 7 ladies entered and only 3 outside of Oxford the venue site.
I believe the AEBBA must consider what competitions are held in future and how they may be amalgamated.

We were talking about this weekend the other night and I suggested that the Special Ladies be amalgamated with one of the other comp weekends. That would mean the Team championship could be played as a round robin as there are only 7 teams for that. With such a low entry for the Ladies, it wouldn't take many phone calls to contact them all

The All England Committee have discussed the situation over the last three tournaments and the consensus of the emails I have seen are that this year must go ahead as scheduled.
Thus there has never been any suggestion that there be any change from the secretary.
I have talked to Dave Alder this morning (quicker than enormous posts ) and the remaining competitions and AGM dates will be as scheduled.

I have removed my (enormous! ) post as the content of that is no longer applicable as this post has provided a full reponse to the previous suggestion by SirKT. I would however agree entirely with the post by Chrissie Newson that something needs to be done in the future to ensure that the AEBBA events will continue to be supported as they are clearly not financially viable at present.

Sorry but make that 6 entries - Steve Allard has just called me to say Sue will not be able to attend as she is really poorly.

Ok, I have managed to organise a lift, so I will make the entries up to 8.
Speaking personally, I don't mind travelling long distances occasionally, but the long trek up to Didcot for every AEBBA competition is something that I would not want to do forever.
It is a tiring journey, even if someone else is driving, especially on the way home. Although I can afford to go, if I don't get a lift, then it is an extremely costly day out! I have to wonder if there are better things I can do with the money.
I won't be doing the old codgers competitions this year for that reason.
I do hope the AEBBA manage to find a permanent venue nearer to the middle of our area.
Edit: Dawn was posting while I was typing - my entry will bring the number back to 7 again.

Congratulations to Pauline Withey on her victory yesterday, beating Jenny Florey in the Final thanks to a break of 6,280 which also won her the High Break Award. With 8 ladies taking part, Pauline had won all 3 of her group matches to reach the final with Colleen Park (1 win, 1 draw) finishing as runner-up in the Group ahead of Ros Appleny (1 win) and Jenny Parsons who had the drawn game with Colleen. Jenny Florey topped the other Group on Aggregate Score with 2 wins and 25,140 points, just ahead of Myra Hawkins (2 wins and 22,070 points) and Dawn Jordan (2 wins and 16,550) with Melissa Standbridge (15,460 points) unlucky not to win a match in a very close group. The two runners-up progressed through to the Plate Final with Myra Hawkins beating Colleen Park. Many thanks to Dave Alder for organising the day and setting up the tables with the help of Phil Hawkins, Nigel Senior for the format for the competition, Ron & Eileen Britton who raised over £100 from the Raffle and Didcot Conservative Club for hosting the day.
