Milko has asked me to provide him with tournament dates, I thought it amy be useful to put it on a thread where everyone can see and add to. These are the ones that I know

Sadly I think it's a non-runner for this year.
These things take a lot of planning as everyone knows, and a few obstacles have been found, including the falling through of the intended venue.
I know there's a saying that "Tomorrow never comes" but we WILL have that competition, but at the moment we're looking at 2008.
Sorry to have got people's hopes up - I am really looking forward to it myself and have offered to sponsor one of the tables.

This is a message for Nigel Senior or if anyone else can answer Do you have to be of a certain standard to enter the Open competitions i.e Inter League players As I was hoping to enter the Sussex Open in June

There will be a mix of standard, ranging from the very best in the country to local league players who play in div 1/2 in Worthing. Ususally there are around 100 players, and they play best of 2 matches in a straight knockout. First round losers go through to a plate competition, guaranteeing 2 matches per player. Hope you can make Sussex Pete, it is a good experience for any league player.

I've entered before and got roundly abused for playing poorly. Despite the fact that I was playing well above my usual standard I was cast out of the door and made to leave Worthing forthwith.
It was a sorry event for all concerned.

I would have loved to see smileys inserted in this, just in case someone who doesn't have Elsies SOH is reading. ;) If you haven't done an open before make sure that you enter one soon - win or lose you will have a great day, meet some lovely people and see a superb standard of Bar Billiards played.
