The Mill win the battle of the basement boys..... Alfold SC 1, The Mill 4 Kelly 1260, Barry 4810 (Barry out of sorts until Kelly scored a good break of 580....this was the rocket up the backside that Barry needed and he played out time with just under 4k.) Bradley 2020, Mick 8400 (Mick started with 3k but the 14-year-old answered with an impressive 1000 break. He added some more at the end for good measure after Mick had made sure)Dave 1820, Vicky 2100 (neck and neck until the bar went with Vicky leading by 300. Dave potted the remaining balls well to leave himself the red in the 100 to win. He missed and Vicky didn't !)Mal 450, Al 8770 (a bad day at the office for the Major, with Alan not giving him much of a look in)Garry 5880, Johnny 3230 (game of the night with John making the early running but Garry closing on him with two breaks and then finishing off with 3k at the end)Excellent evening spent in good company, capped with some tasty pizza and chips from Kelly.

The Mighty Stout House A 5, Blue Ship 0
I don't know what to say, other than the Ship had a dreadful run of the table tonight and could not get to grip with the break or the speed (or lack of speed) of the table. It started with Ding leaving her first attempt at the break short, and went on from there. Anyway:
Sam 2970, Ding 1400 Pete H 2360, Steve 1780 John 3850, James 1810 Tony 2120, Mick BP Pete T 2240, Simon 1700
A really good evening, though, with much banter as you'd expect.
Pete

Three Compasses 0 Railway 5 Andy S 1,090 Rob 2,780 Steady game for Rob, never in trouble Jason D 2,350 Boggy 4,720 Good game this one, Boggy always in control Giles S 930 Skippy 6,430 Good game from Adam, Giles drew the short straw and played under the 4 player rule Jacob E 2,220 Stuart 3,810 Another good game, Stuart doing enough Giles S 1,820 Mick C 3,920 Just did enough to pinch the point.
We have discovered that the Compasses have a billiards coach name of Richard. We believe he is paid for the tuition with copious amounts of beer, he gives advice as the game is in progress to both players.
I strongly suggest any away team playing at the Compasses ask for Richard to attend the match. I am sure Jason will be amenable.
Quote of the night from Jason as Boggy hit the cue ball...attention all pockets...priceless.
Super pasta bake to finish, friendly pub, good company.
Mick

Can't think of who you mean.......can only assume you had to invoke the 4-player rule !

Dun Horse 3 Limeburners 2
Stuart Hope 1730 Brian Goodchild 4580 Scott Hope 4800 Mark Davies 1040 Grant Hope 5910 Rik Dewdney 1280 Colin Bolton 1350 Bill Hammond 3990 Dave Simmons 3510 Chip Sawyer 2910
Game 1: Steady game from Brian, Pops struggled a bit. Game 2: Scott commanded the game, kept Mark off the table even losing 1k6 in the closing stages. Game 3: Dude started well until he got distracted around 1k. Cracking play from Grant for the rest of the game. Game 4: Solid performance from Billy Onions, Colin never really got going. Game 5: After a slow start, Chip and Dave matching breaks before getting bogged down at the bottom end. Dave enough in front when the bar dropped.
An amusing evening despite the Doombar running out! Can't comment on the sandwiches, they'd all gone by the time I got to them.

Springbok SC 2 Three Bee's 3
R Burgess 6100 B Dumbrill 1930 Barry started OK but then left split up short. Robin never looks a gift horse in the mouth and took full advantage. Barry did get some table time, but not enough to make an impression.
T Goacher 2110 S Ely 5230 Neck and neck at early stages then Steve found the break and the rest was history, I had a chance, but came up short, good game though.
B Hicks BP M Lennon 2660 Both players started slow and Bills recent form seemed to have abandoned him. Mike then started to chip away and was a good 1K in front when Bill got within a couple of hundred of Mikes Score. Bar drops, nerves get the better of both, but Bill gets to the point of last ball down the 200 pocket, BP, hey ho.
M Edwards 1250 L Lennon 2240 Lin was in good form and got to grips early on, Mike was doing nothing wrong and continued to play some great shots, but really was chasing the game throughout. Lin deserved the win and looked mighty relieved.
G Marshall 4550 Tom (Sorry do not know surname)1440 Tom shot out the blocks and took an early lead, which Gaz could not respond to. Tom continued to chip away and it took a good break from the young lad to claim this point.
Great night, really friendly and a joy to be involved with. Thanks
