Unfortunately the committee left it too late (first week of December) before letting me know that they had decided that the international would be in Bournemouth and not Sussex as such I have committed to other things for March. I'd suggested to a committee member back in July and again in November in Jersey that all potential team players get together and decide if Bournemouth or Sussex was the preferred venue, this never happened. Sadly this will be the first international I've missed

Sadly the Sussex Open will miss all the Guernsey players as well. Not only the players but the extra income we normally get every other year.

Personally i did like Sussex and its much more fun playing Golf in the sun. I do suggest that the decision on when and where the International is played becomes a much more joined up approach. It seemed to be more of an Idea rather than a plan. It has then steam rolled a bit last minute.
We have the International on the same weekend as our Open and it really helps with the numbers. I assume we have helped boost the numbers of the Bournemouth Pairs?

I too was affected by the the timing of confirmation that the England v Guernsey International would coincide with the Bournemouth pairs, having already booked a work commitment too close to the tournament date. But the tournament itself, excellent venue and the proximity to the Channel Islands is to my mind an excellent choice as a venue for Internationals.
I do not know if the possibility of holding Internationals at the same time as the World championship in Jersey was ever discussed by the relevant organisers. Is this idea dead in the water ? It is still a no brainer to me as all the top players are in one place at the same time with a large number of tournament ready tables set up and ready to go.
If Bournemouth is to be a regular bi-annual preferred venue for away Internationals for the two Channel Islands teams, I would expect the fixture to be better supported in the future, and more of the higher ranked players would be able to make themselves available and get themselves organised well in advance, so that the strongest possible and full sides can be selected. Unfortunately four of the Guernsey team (plus the reserve) that beat Jersey last year will not be available/attending the match against the full England side in Bournemouth in 2015. But I am sure those Guernsey players that have been selected will be on top form and will justify their inclusion in the match.

Hi Mark
It will be the same situation as most home games against Guernsey. They never come over with 11 so some of their team will play 2 singles matches so all the England team get a singles match.
The order of the team above is as per the list generated by selection committee.
The top 8 players will have option of playing in doubles as well. We only have time to include one set of doubles matches over 4 legs.
Hope this is clear ?
Curt
