The previous record was set just prior to the World Championships, people checking the draw no doubt.
So my guess is, as half the users of this website are from Sussex, it is Sussex players logging on to check the draw for this weekend's County Singles and Doubles which are taking place at the Downview, Worthing.

Would be interesting to know how many members/guests, as I was already on my way to work it wasn't me ;), but maybe just a fluke at that time of morning with visitors from elsewhere in the world, maybe my relatives in Australia put the word out ;D

Sussex for World Championship then :D ;) Well, loads of truth in that throw-away comment ! At November's World Championships............ - 11 Sussex players made it to the Fourth Round, comprising more than a third of the lineup.
- 7 Sussex players made it to the Fifth Round (Last 16)
- We had exactly half of the Quarter-final line-up.
- ..........and half of the Semi-finalists (- but so did Oxfordshire !)
- But then the Final was between Jim Millward and Kevin Tunstall, both representing Sussex.
And as KT is now World Champion, yes it was a case of "Sussex for the World Championship" - as you quite rightly said. ;)

The site is frequently 'Spidered' (crawled all over) by bots from search engines. I have noticed several occasions where a group of almost identical IP addresses have been on as guests.
I would guess this is the reason

'Fraid it's a mystery to me as well. There is a thread called Nobby Clark though, so maybe he logged on and the rest followed like sheep. ;D

Over 400 spiders, must have been a spiders meeting place.
