Well done team Great result from the England team on Saturday evening. 47-6 is a very flattering scoreline but if you look through the match scores there were lots of games that finished around k1 difference. These wouldn't have changed the result but the scoreline would have been much closer. Thanks to those that supported through the evening and to all those that helped to arrange the weekend. One last big thanks to the Guernsey team for coming over and keeping this fixture going. Curt

I thought the odd one out was Martin smith. The only one not to have his hands in his lap in the front row lol Obviously needed the support of Curt and Nipper lol

His right tit seems to have gone a bit South as well!! (comes with age).
Yes I'd noticed his affection for his neighbours as well! (keep an eye on that one)

In the Guernsey pic Terry Kenny has a mischievous look in his eye, as if Bob Le Moignan is just about to get a cue tip up his nostril !

Apart from the results it was an enjoyable weekend.
The question is, will this be the venue for all future Internationals?
It seems that we had a positive impact on the numbers? Will this negatively impact on the numbers for the Sussex open? Are there any other comps during the year that could also host the event? Would there be any benefits to changing it?
I suggest that some thought is put into this pretty quickly and maybe we can discuss further prior to our open in May. I think that an earlier decision than this year is required. As the final decision to move this to Bournemouth was made pretty late, some of the Guernsey players were unable to attend.
Thanks
Darren

Thanks Darren Hi Darren I find the comment above about making an early decision a bit strange. I had initial discussions about Bournemouth 2015 at the Guernsey open 2014. I followed this up with a txt message at the beginning of July confirming my plans for Bournemouth this year. I recieved a reply back in August last year to say it had been discussed at a committee meeting and that everyone was happy. I also spoke to Tom in Jersey 2014. I'm not sure how much notice you need but as far as I'm concerned the decision to use Bournemouth this year to host the international was made in plenty of time and was communicated to the Guernsey committee. Apologies if this sounded like it was England that held this up then. I am not sure our players got that as a confirmed venue and time until late October.
Over here it felt more like an idea rather than a confirmed decision.
Did you find Bournemouth worked well for you? (forget the result)

From the organisers point of view Bournemouth went well for the international.
Financially it is a much cheaper option for AEBBA as everything is already in place at Bournemouth, so no additional cost and work for transporting tables.
I feel it is an attraction to be able to offer the away players a bit more than paying flights and hotel for what is normally a bit of a hammering with all due respect.
A couple of the home players made the decision that the pairs was enough bar billiards for the weekend, but conversely there is a whole host of home talent readily available at Bournemouth.
How long the AEBBA home internationals can go on for with or without the added attraction of a good weekend I have my doubts, granted that in every other year it was benefitting the Sussex Open.
It is not currently the desire of the AEBBA committee to split the international away from the Bournemouth weekend, but they would obviously listen to any desire to do so from Guernsey or Jersey. Given that many senior figures will be in Guernsey in a few weeks it might be an idea to sit around a table and discuss the future in the light of the first Bournemouth International and Jersey not travelling last year.

Curt Hi, Just for the record: When I attended the off the spot, a couple of England players asked about the International being held in Bournemouth, I replied that I wasn't aware of the change of venue as no one in Guernsey had mentioned it. When I returned to Guernsey I spoke to a committee member and suggested that all potential Island player get together and agree on the venue either Bournemouth or Sussex. I mentioned several times over the following months about getting together to decide on the preferred venue and asked if a decision had been made, each time I was ignored and not informed if the venue had been decided on. On the first Monday of December a committee member phone me to ask if I was going to Bournemouth for the international, this was the first time that the venue had been confirmed, unfortunately by then it was to late for me to go to Bournemouth as other arrangements had been made for the weekend.
