15 June 2015 “Local boys make good” Congratulations to Limeburners' Ricky Dewdney on his second-ever Open Final appearance, which he achieved yesterday in the 2015 Sussex Open played at Roffey SSC. Ricky didn’t exactly have easy passage, beating title-holder Richard Wooton in the Last 16, 4-times World Champ Jim Millward in the Quarter-final and British No.2 Nigel Senior in the Semi-Final – three of Brighton’s best !!! On this occasion Ricky was denied his first Open win by Berkshire’s Paul Sainsbury, but it’s a fair bet that his day will one day come ! Another noteworthy performance came from local boy Stuart Carruthers (Railway): Not only a first-time quarter-finalist, but who recorded a very brave personal best 12,000 break in chasing the 16,000 set in the first leg by eventual winner Sainsbury. Well done also to Paul Jobbins (Dun Horse) and Rob Jones (Railway) who made the last 8 of the Plate, as did The Bull’s Bob Hall who lost to the eventual winner Mark Trafford.
There's a nice writeup worded around the above in this week's West Sussex County Times.
