If any of the Dover and Deal boys are interested my beloved Trams are playing at Deal Town tomorrow for a Kent League game so come along and see a good game and have a couple of beers.

Well Sav, Vinny, today I did the next best thing to a pilgrimage to sacred Deal, which was a visit with Margo to sunny Folkestone.
Brilliant journey there and back, no holdups, 90 minutes each way. Filled jacket potato and mug of tea in a nice cafe beforehand, arrived early enough to park at the ground, then had a nice lager outside the clubhouse taking in the fine view of the white cliffs and Sugarloaf Hill.
To cap a fine day our goalkeeper saved a penalty and we scrambled a 1-0 win. 8-)

Hi Sav,
Good day down your way and an excellent 2-4 win. Had a couple of pints in the Alma after the game. Not the pub it was that's for sure. Landlord seemed very pleased with himself that he'd got rid of the old boys in the pub and "turned it up-market". Yeah right.
Didn't realise you were an AFC fan Tommo. Did you come up to Croydon 2 seasons ago?

I'm told he's got pool etc back in there as his great plans were not doing as well as expected. What teams are TW putting in for the Interleague Vinny? Sav

Hi Vinny, During Dons' 14-year stay in the top bracket, I tried to see all their opponents at least once, and have an almost complete collection of programmes - the only one missing (strangely) being Charlton Athletic. I am trying to do the same for our duration in non-League, and two years ago saw them play both Croydon and Croydon Athletic. But they were both home games. I had to make the effort for Folkestone as although I attended the first game of the season against them last year I was one of the last to arrive and missed out on a programme. (3,000 were printed and the crowd that day was 3.003 !)

Hi Clive,
Did you manage to get hold of a programme for the game at Croydon? If not, I've managed to get my hands on one and I'll bring it down to Portsmouth for you next week.
Regards,
Vinny

Hi Vinny, I didn't attend Croydon v AFC on Sat 11th Sept 2004, but I do have my programme for AFC v Croydon on Sat 12th Feb 2005.
My how times change ! We had on loan Goalkeeper Jake Cole and full back Jay Conroy of QPR and had ex-Chelsea pro Joe Sheerin up front.
And from the programme notes I see that Croydon had a history-making season in 1975/6, remaining undefeated in the league - 42 games without loss. Yet somehow Tilbury pipped you for the Championship !
Yes I wouldn't mind a squiz at the programme if you remember it.
Cheers, tommo

Hi Clive,
It's a spare so it's yours to keep (penned by my own fair hand, he says modestly). See you for a beer next Sunday.
