I'm afraid I'll have to be removed from the list due to work. It's all gone a bit pear shaped it would seem!

Congratulations to Kevin Tunstall who beat Curt Driver in the final today, Nigel Senior and Kevin Hall the two losing semi-finalists with Mark Foster beating Lee Radford in the Plate Final. Curt won the high break award for 3,540 in his last group game, although he did also have a 3.7k break in the Last 16 that was not recorded on the score sheet. Many thanks, as always, to Dave Alder for running the day, Dave Tooke, Dennis Atkins and Colleen Park for setting up the tables, Lorraine Hall who sold the raffle tickets and everybody that helped to take the tables down at the end of the day. It was good to see a large entry for the competition this year.

A great day of billiards yesterday and I was really pleased to get to the final Slight correction to Dave's post, my break was 3750 and it was recorded on the score sheet Curt

Well done Kevin on your win. You obviously don't need a "Zimmer frame" yet like me then! Unlucky Curt but those breaks are fantastic at this variation of the game. I don't think I've even scored that many let alone getting that in one break! Keith

Thanks Keith, you better have a party every year lol. A well run day and a good format. My only defeat was to Hayley in our group. She deserved the win scoring over 2k.

Well done kev, commiserations curt
With good numbers this year I suggested to dave we could go for groups with 1 leg games. Think this made for an entertaining day and hope people enjoyed the format. Certainly threw up some surprise results in the groups, jack baden beating mark trafford, current wc dave ingram losing to tony brown and of course hayley beating kev!
But with top two going through each group an early defeat was not fatal. In fact curt had two early defeats, but results went his way and got through with that cracking 3.5k effort in his final game. He then bettered that with 3.7k.......is that a new record? I have not seen a higher break.
Although the format and alternative rules levelled the playing field it was a top quality last four, chunky monkey nearly made the final at his first attempt losing by small 3 to curt (must have been all that advice I gave whilst pissed at the party). I made a great start against kt, clearing the table on about 500, thinking of setting him a run out, only to peg when splitting the triangle up on my next break shot :-[ I was then quickly 1, then 2, then 3k behind as kev made scores every visit. I made a 2k break in the dying minutes, but it was not enough.
Not sure what happened in the final, but kev winning means he has won this event far more times than anyonelse so he is just as good at the back of the table as the front of it!
