A cracking race today in Bahrain prompts me to start another sporting poll.
Who will win this years F1 crown?
Latest odds are
Raikkonen, Kimi 13/8 Alonso, Fernando 2/1 Massa, Felipe 11/4 Hamilton, Lewis 9/2 Heidfeld, Nick 66/1 Kubica, Robert 200/1
There are surely only 4 drivers in it and are closely matched it seems.
1) Fernando Alonso (22 pts)- Double World Champ and best driver in the world today. Trying to acheive what Schumi couldn't, winning a 3rd title in a row after switching teams.
2) Kimi Raikkonen (22 pts)- Ferrari look to have the best car, Kimi has been runner up twice and will be thinking it is his turn. Looked like he would walk it after Australia, but will surely now be challenged by teammate Massa and the two McLarens.
3) Lewis Hamilton (22 pts)- incredible start to a new career, could he do the unthinkable and win it in his first year. Bit too much to ask I think, but will win races this year I am sure. What a talent! And he's British as well!
4) Fellippe Massa (17 pts)- can blow away the opposition like he did today on occasions, but can also falter under pressure. Don't know if he can be consistent enough to win world championships
So my vote goes to Raikkonen and I doubt he will get a better chance than this year.

I reckon it's Lewis's turn to shine this year, he is pure talent!

No, too soon for him. Maybe in a year or two IF he is still in a competitive car. (There is a view, of course, that my Granny could win the world title - cos it is all about the car!!) I don't hold that view, of course, but nevertheless, it is a key component to winning the title.

I mean - just talent alone doesn't cut it.

Probably is too soon for Lewis Hamilton, but it has been a tremendous start to his F1 career. Someone more experienced will more likely take the title this year. The car is essential is course.

I probably agree that for Lewis it is probably too soon to be winning World titles- the bookies have got it about right that he is 4th favourite for the title. He has got to win first, and even if he only did that once this year it would be a great season for him. I also think Ferrari do have a slight edge, but McLaren are very optimistic that they have big improvement by the time they get to Europe.
What is great about Lewis though is that we have at last someone British worth cheering on (and that is covering most sports not just F1)!
