Congratulations to Nigel Senior on winning his first Grand Prix title. Well done also to Martin Cole who he beat in a good final. Nige was off early but was first to get them back where he played the remainder of the clock out for a lead of 17k +. Martin was on course to catch the score when coming off up the table on 13k with time to spare.
Nigel beat Paul Sainsbury and Martin beat Mark Trafford in their semi finals comfortably.
Well done to Jenny Florey on beating Jean Brackenridge in the Ladies final.
Well done to Phil McFarland who beat Craig Mace in the Under 25s final
Dennis Atkins beat Tony Martin in a good Over 60s final.
Geoff Pitt beat Alan Lacey in the Over 50s final.

Congratulations to Nigel and Jenny on their wins yesterday, also to Phil, Tony and Alan in the age related competitions. Commiserations to all the runners-up, some very high quality games in all of the competitions with high scores being recorded. Many thanks to those who helped to organise and run the day, Dave for running the Admin Desk, the people that set up the tables and the Club for hosting the event. Special thanks should be given to Nigel who had to work very hard on the formats both before and during the day to make the schedule work at all.... my only criticism would be that trying to run 5 competitions on one day is too many and it made the whole thing rather chaotic with a lot of people not seeming to know when they were playing or even which competition that they were playing in! It would have been helpful if the draws and results had been shown somewhere so everybody knew what was going on.  |
