Following the securement of a sponsorship deal, the Horsham League are pleased to announce the return of its summer competition known as the "King & Barnes Open Doubles" last fought for in 1999. The magnificent perpetual cup has resurfaced and smart clock trophies for winning and losing finalists have already been commissioned. Entries will be accepted up to 31st March and will be open to any Pairs based in Sussex and Surrey, with all rounds being played on Horsham League tables. For the first year back entry will be FREE, with a maximum of 32 Pairs, first come first served. Invitations will be sent out in the following order: - Mid Jan 2016…Horsham league; Billingshurst league; Mid Sussex league; Redhill league
- Mid Feb 2016…Remainder of Sussex (leagues south of the South Downs)
(There is scope for expansion next year should the competition prove popular in its first year back.) The format will be a simple knockout (as previously) and games will be played on Tuesdays, once a fortnight throughout June, July and August, whilst trying not to encroach upon Jubilee Cup, Off-the-Spot and 4-Pin activity. Condition of entry will be that competitors adhere to the set night.Mid Sussex have a glorious tradition in this competition, providing the first-ever champions in 1986, Chris Ellmers and Gerry Smith. Graham Lewis and Andy Farmer-Wright were winners in 1991 and Graham Lewis also partnered Peter Heasman to victory in 1998. An entry form is attached HERE: Attachment DeletedEntries can also be submitted through the medium of the Forum, by PM'ing me a completed form. Hi Adam. I also would partner you if you wish. I remember playing in this comp when it was around last time and am looking for a partner. Ian.

A requisite is that a pairing must be teammates from the same team (from whatever league). This is following the tradition of the competition.
Some pairings will no doubt be strong, but we're trying not to encourage the formation of 'super teams' from unrelated venues. Relevant house is to be specified on the (free) entry form.
A 'reserve list' will be displayed for those who have registered an interest but not sent in a form.

Adam is my team mate in interleague does that there fore count No sorry, that's too loose a connection for the purposes of this competition. You can pick a partner from the Bull, or Hassocks A, or if you wait a few weeks and there's still vacancies, from your Worthing-based team.

If indeed you have him registered with Ian then there's nothing to stop you entering.........Don't think I won't pick up on it if he's not, though, as all entries will be vetted !
