Alfold SC 0, The Mill 5 Sam Short 1240, Barry 3670 (steady play from Barry and Sam having no luck) Steve Dell 420, Alan 1540 (nervous laughter as both players knocked black over in successive shots) Kelly Slater 1610, Mick 2340 (Kelly nearly caught Mick up) Dave Slater BP, Clive 6800 (two shall-we-say fortuitous shots from tommo, one ringing the 50 straight down for 400, one off the cush tickling a ball behind the 10 hole, one flicking the other in for the break back) Garry Fishburn 2140, Johnny 6150 (some good shots from Garry towards the end but by then too late)
A really nice sociable evening and we hope the Major's back recovers quickly so that he can play again soon. Excellent food as ever at Alfold - tasty egg sandwiches and chicken sandwiches with cranberry - or was it chicken before the egg ? - cherry tomatos, crisps and afterwards hot cross buns.
Journey home reminded me of Watership Down - must have seen 30 or 40 rabbits by the side of the road.

Roffey -v- Railway All I can say is WOW!!! and... I'm not often speechless but tonite was EPIC!!! Can't wait for the following reports as this match had everything!!! It was a charged atmosphere in the Club last night! With The Railway nedding a 4-1 win or better to retain the League winners title, so it began Pete Fish 1180 Sniffer 7620 Very nervy start from both players but Sniffer eventually settled into a winning 5k break 0-1 Capt Tiggy 3660 Capt Skippy 8630 Solid opening 3.5 from Skippy and then added another 4k before Twiggy got the balls back 0-2 Railway looking good for the 4 points they needed Demencia 3760 Boggy 3180 Good opener from Mark around 2.5 but Dick got his nose infront. Last 5 mins both players nervously played at the top end 1-2 Moose 770 Clackster 7090 Mick set 3k opener but Moose not getting balls back Mick went further ahead, Moose had the break back chasing around 5.7 but only managed to play FOUR Breaks doh Mick added a few more 1-3 So it came to the last game of the last league game Foxy 9170 Stupot 160 The scores do not reflect that Stu was on good opener of around 4k and looking good to add further but took out the right white peg on a split shot. Foxy needed a couple of vivits to get the break back but made sure with a 9k 2-3 Plenty of Banter/Sledging through the evening and the usual sarnies to nibble

Congratulations to Roffey on winning back the title. Was a close run thing at the end but Foxy sealed it with an error free break when needed.

I can only add my sincere congratulations to Roffey SSC. A deserved league win, great final match of the league season for both teams capped by a superb winning break from Jim.
It's matches like this that make this silly game so enjoyable.
