As previously advised by Chrissie Newson on another thread... Dave Alder and I have discussed the U25s tonight and realise there will be no event on the date marked. We both agree that this could be held with the Grand Prix. Common sense prevails here. So the date now for this event is the Grand Prix. So guess again I am about to be banned !! xxx Or no event held xxx .... the date of this competition has now been changed to Sunday 27th November and it will be played alongside the Grand Prix Competitions at Didcot Conservative Club. Please could members of the Forum advise any young players that the date has changed and advise if they are available to play now? Many thanks.

Well aebba rules states 4) Age related competitions; players must comply with the age restriction on Sept 1st of the current year.
Maybe that clears it up

you must be under the age of age restricted competitions on the day the competition is held. So if you will be 25 or over on the day you cannot enter.
With the overs you can be that age or over to play

Joe wishes to enter
It looks like that takes it to 3 with Daniel, Kyle and Joe confirming they wish to enter. One more would really be helpful so I don't know if Chrissie heard back from Lewis?

Congratulations to Daniel Wheal for winning the AEBBA Under 25's competition today. Some very close matches and a very tight finish with all 4 players in contention, Daniel won 2 out of 3 games and just pipped Kyle Ingram by an aggregate score of just under 1k with Joe Oakley finishing 3rd with 1 win and a very similar aggregate score and Jamie Minnihane also winning 1 match. Joe did win the High Break Award witha break of just under 9k in a very good competition.

Well done Daniel, although I must say that I'm very surprised that there wasn't a final played this year as well as a group stage as has been done in all the years I was able to play in it. I'm not sure who made the decision on that whether it was the players themselves or Dave Alder or whoever, just seemed peculiar to me.

Normally a final required if there is more than one group Phil, not really needed this year as it was just a one group all play all round robin.

I would have thought with 4 players playing a round robin there shouldn't be a final. Could be unfair on someone if they beat everyone then had to go on to possibly lose a final.

I remember 2014 a round Robin was played with just 5 players and there was a final of the top two in the group. It's also a similar format we did during the inter area one day event. That's why it seems strange that it wasn't done this year in the same fashion.

Lateral thinking again.....
The under 25's which effectively is a novices cup but limited to under 25's, i know lots of novices who have only been playing a few years but were too old to qualify before they started playing.
Why not change this to a true novices cup for those who have been playing bb for less than say 8 years, which would be a roughly theoretical maximum number of years a newcomer to the pub game could have played. Obviously league secretaries would have to nominate and notify such players who would qualify.
