Sod the bacon butties for the moment,,,,,,,,,,, C S should be donating to the C H snoring fund on the friday night so he should also be buying the beers for some, if not all of, us. Think everything is sorted now sav and even poor ol gill wont have to give you a lift back to your room, just remember the Chinese takeaway next door shuts about 10pm

Might be worth the ranking points committee increasing the available points in this event, it would probably assist in increasing the applicants to 80 next year

Might be worth the ranking points committee increasing the available points in this event, it would probably assist in increasing the applicants to 80 next year Surely, if National RPs were a consideration, that would only encourage more 3-Pinners to enter. I reckon we already have enough of those, I would rather see more 4-Pinners taking part in what is their own competition. The mechanism for that, assuming the Sudbury committee weren't averse to the event growing in stature, would be to increase the prize list further: Which they've already done this year. Extra "extras" could be for highest break by an East Anglian player, furthest progress by an East Anglian, furthest lady etc. If 3-Pinners are motivated by RPs then there might be an opportunity with the Northants 4-Pin which (allegedly) will now come under the AEBBA umbrella as an Alternative Rules event. If so, I reckon the response will be even better than the first year which was good in itself.

I don't think we could hope for many more players from the sudbury league to enter, well over half of our league players have entered this year and I can think of about 5 more who would probably of entered but they are unavailable that weekend. On the plus side we should have at least two more teams in our league next season, so that's a possible 10 more players.
I think a change in name may get more players interested, obviously for the four pinners ranking points really make no difference.

Don't really mind who it is that enters, the more the merrier, and the more 3 pinners that enter the more popular 4 pin will become, it's hard for me to see a negative here for more ranking points, once its all on narrow tops it'll be even more interesting.

But......you'll never win over all the top-line 3-Pinners to four-pin, many of them just aren't interested. (= "too much bar billiards already" syndrome). So let's not try and take over their game, I've always supported a public relations drive to try and embrace all the 4-pin/Snookerette enclaves and get them all competing. We now have the first entrant from Fenland, but what about Wellingborough (who sent two to the Norwich event) and Norwich players themselves ? Hence extra prizes specifically to tempt these guys needed. I think a change in name may get more players interested, obviously for the four pinners ranking points really make no difference. How true ! How about for 2018 onwards "The UK 4-Pin Open Championships, hosted by East Anglia". And add a Doubles competition on the Friday (not necessarily at the same venue) for the pi$$heads.

We are still working towards 8 narrow tops for next year.
If next years goes as well as this year has in terms of the number of entries we will certainly look at increasing the number of spaces available but this will of course make the day a lot longer and as many 3 pin players travel up on the day and return after I'm not sure if this would infact end up putting some players off. We would also have the option of holding the event over two days but this would then mean players having to pay out for overnight accommodation which I cant see working and maybe the only way it would work is if we held a mini doubles tournament first thing Saturday and then just the group stages of the open after so everyone would still be involved on the Sunday amd possibly changing the name to either the English, UK or world 4 pin open and asking to have more ranking points up for grabs to entice the 3 pinners to enter. Lots to think about and everyones thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.
Remember a couple od years back we only managed to get 48 entries so we dont want to try and run before we can walk
We are in favour of amost anything that promotes and helps four pin grow. Our league is steadily increasing, our next season wont start until October time but already we have two new venues wanting to join.
