Grant & I beat Jack & George 2-0 at the Romans this evening. Probably fair to say that the "young guns" never really got to grips with the table and Grant played it well making two decisive 6.5k breaks to take us through. Many thanks to Chocie for both setting the table up earlier in the day and also for coming down and scoring the match.

Just a quick question for all to consider, with regard to BB warriors doubles game at the Romans, is it fair for a tem mate to "set up " a table that he is not registered to. Surely he should leave it alone, Regarding the above i was asked by my dad who plays for the Romans and also the landlord of the Romans to come in and put both table back in place and set them up as they had both been moved over Christmas as the pub had functions on. My dad was there and so was Lee while the tables where being done, i have been looking after The Romans table with my Dad for the past couple of years and only go down when asked. If anyone has a problem with this i suggest they speak to Lee at the Romans and my dad.

Thanks to both of you for explaining the circumstances but Dave s report was open to misinterpretation, I have every regard and respect for Stuart and the help he gives to the Romans but I maintain he should not have set this table up for his team mates to play on.

Poor old Stuart, goes out of his way to ensure a game goes ahead and gets grief for it. Trust me, the table was not easy and nothing like it was setup before it was moved. Not sure it was set up to suit anyone in particular and was new to all who played it that night. If you had followed the markings on the table for the break for example, you would have missed the break all together - as all 4 of us did at some point during the 2 games!I for one appreciated that if it wasn't for him the game would have had to have been cancelled. Thank you Stuart. however, I do understand where marmite is coming from and maybe its needs clarification in the rules going forward.

Clearly Marmite is still unhappy about this. There is a Brighton Committee meeting this Sunday and I will raise this matter at that meeting, I will then leave it to the Competition Secretary or League Chairman to comment further on the subject.

Jim beat me 2-0 at the Duke of Wellington this evening, his win fully deserved as he got to grips with an "interesting" table much better than I did on the night. Many thanks to Colleen for scoring the match for us and good luck to Jim for the rest of the competition.

There is a Brighton Committee meeting this Sunday and I will raise this matter at that meeting, I will then leave it to the Competition Secretary or League Chairman to comment further on the subject. . Thats fine Dave, as i wont be there and i assume my comments will be discussed i would like to clarify my opinions. 1.My comments are based on your match posting, they are my opinion and not a criticism. 2.The fact that Stuart helps set up the Romans table for their teams and inter league is irrelevant to this matter. It s great that someone takes time to do this and as long as the resident teams are happy with that situation then i do not have any issue whatsoever. 3.Stuart set this table up for you and Grant to play on that evening and that for me is wrong. He is your team mate as as such should have let someone else level and set up this top. This should apply whenever an Albion C player is playing on the Romans whether its singles ,doubles or team. 4.This is not a matter of me questioning anybodies integrity,I may well be the only person who feels this is wrong but that won t change my opinion.

Dave,last post for me,
1. You stated in your match report that Stuart set the table up and I have repeated that.
2. I said I have no issue with Stuart setting up the tables for inter league or the Romans teams,
3. I have one issue and that is Stuart setting up the Romans table when anyone from his team the Albion C are about to play on it. I feel all three of you have not considered how this action would be perceived, it is innocent and not thought through, that's all it is, but it should not happen again.

But I think your confused he set the table up on the request of the owner of the pub and his dad not Dave so I'm still struggling to understand why you can't seem to grasp this and move on

Can I remind people if there is a complaint being made it should go through the proper channels. It should be put in writing and sent to the secretary. The committee will then deal with the complaint.
Unfortunately as we all know comments made on here can quickly get out of hand and are open to anyone to comment on matters that should be dealt with by the Brighton Committee

I am leaving the thread open for results, but think this discussion should now be left to the committee and no further comments on the matter to be made or thread will be locked.

The Committee has discussed this and, although respect Colin's opinion, feel that on this occasion nothing untoward has taken place with regard to the returning of the Romans table to its original position and preparing it for play by Stuart and Alan at the request of the landlord after the Christmas break.
In the Committee's opinion the integrity and fair play of all those involved has been upheld.
The Brighton League Committee consider the matter closed.
