British tennis alive and well after all ?

Well the mens and ladies singles winners wouldn't have been too difficult to predict, but nice to see Jamie Murray stepping up to receive the Mixed Doubles Cup along with his very-easy-on-the-eye partner Jelena Jankovic :

Yes well done to Jamie and Jelena, he can now say he won a senior Wimbledon before his brother. Must admit she is very nice on the eye and makes tennis worth watching.

Cracking mens final and neither player deserved to loose, but doesn`t Roger show how to dig deep at those vital moments.

Agree with you there, bigTJ, in fact it was a cracking Wimbledon all round.
In fact margo and I caught most of it as we were holed up in our chalet for a lot of the time due to the crappy weather and obliged to limit our excursions.

It was a great touch to have past great past champions such as Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Navratilova etc there to give their angle on things. The years have been kind to Borg, he looked very distinguished in his suit and with his silver hair.

And of course there have been some great stars for the future emerging (both men and ladies) - especially going by the exploits of Bartoli in overcoming the No.3 and No.1 seeds on her way to the final: It was great to see a rather plumpish but very feminine lass putting paid to the theory that to succeed in womens tennis you have to be muscular and super-fit. 8-)

You just cannot beat the atmosphere, and the excitement of actually being there on a day like Saturday.
I was fortunate to go last year, and in 2005 to the 2nd Monday ( 2006 ), and 2nd Weds ( 2005 ), and on both occasions the feeling and the tensions generated from the spectators was absolutely brilliant.
Here's hoping for better luck in the 2008 ticket draw.

If you are members of the LTA ( associate membership currently £30 ) you stand a better chance of tickets than the general public, although you are never guarenteed a ticket for any event.

Tell it like it is guys - Scottish tennis is alive and well - English tennis is not quite so healthy, however!!!!
