Congratulations to the Horse & Harrow who beat my team the Brewery Tap :'( 3-2 in a exciting final at the National Team Champs
The first 4 legs were played simultaneously and were very tense games, Gary Johnson started with 8,500 against Chris Reeves, but Chris pegged a 8k break when on target to catch the score.
Pete Welsh beat Chris Tupper on Tupps' break.
The break for Pete Burton made no difference in his game against Nigel Senior as they both broke of with less then 500. The game degenerated into having a nightmare at the back of the table but Nigel cleared the last few balls to win by 160.
Richard Wooton's close win over Den Atkins set up the decider.
Alas for the Tap Gareth Lloyd's early miss left the way for Phil Collins to make a very impressive winning break to seal the title
Final Scores
Nigel Senior 2070 Pete Burton 1910
Richard Wooton 5870 Dennis Atkins 4940
Chris Reeves 470 Gary Johnson 9030
Chris Tupper 1920 Pete Welch 6280
Gareth Lloyd 2750 Phil Collins 9440
The Group stages
The Brewery Tap made a powerful start with two 4-1 wins, the latter being against the strong former champions Berkshire side the Caversham WMC. However a 2-3 loss against 4 man Mermaid left the door open to Caversham but they failed to take advantage and the Tap went through to the final. The Mermaid from Hants will consider themselves unlucky giving 3 games away because they had only 4 players.
P W L Score Pts

2 Caversham WMC, Berks 3 2 1 49,010 8
3 Mermaid, Hants 3 2 1 53,180 7
4 White Hart, Kent 3 0 3 51,270 5
In Group 2 the Oxon side were the favourites but it was very close as after two games all sides were separated by just 2 points. But the Horse & Harrow beat last years finalists the South Park Con Club from Surrey 5-0 to book their final berth.
P W L Score Pts
1 Horse & Harrow, Oxon 3 3 0 80,170 11
2 Bricklayers Arms. Bucks 3 2 1 55,290 8
3 White Swan, Cambs 3 0 3 54,600 6
4 South Park Con Club, Surrey 3 1 2 47,490 5
Unbeaten players on the day were Phil Collins (4/4), Chris Saville (3/3), Nigel Senior (3/3), Paul Wing (3/3) and Pete Sainsbury (2/2). Chris Saville also topped the averages and knocked in the high break of 10,870.
Once again well done to the Horse & Harrow, Phil Collins was undoubtedly their star winning all 4 games and the decider with a very good break under pressure.
