Exciting stuff, I've spent most of the afternoon riveted to the TV (apart from a bit of gardening ;) )
Loved it when new champion Padraig Harrington's little son inspected the Claret Jug and said "can we keep ladybirds in it, dad ?" ;D

Really pleased Harrington won it, very deserving winner and great to see him win his first major. I really thought he blew it at the 18th.
Shame for Garcia, I hope he wins a major soon, but this was a big chance missed.

As a golfer i follow these things closely, i really wanted garcia to win at the start of the day, what drama though, nice to see padraig win, i'm not a fan of his though, this may be the start of a Euorpean domination of majors, but don't get me started on that, 3 majors in USA and ours, a joke for world golf really, nice that my club moved our championship this year as it always falls on the open weekend, i didn't win though ::) i did, however win july medal so i'll be in the medal finals in september :D

For me the fascination with golf is that things can change in an instant of bad fortune (rather like bar billiards). What an evil last three holes they are at Carnoustie !
It certainly provided high drama: first Garcia's overnight three-shot lead evaporated, then the Argentinian Romero came out of nowhere, threatened to break the course record, and then double-bogeyed. That left Garcia back in the lead, then Harrington joined him, then Garcia blew up, then Harrington only needed a couple of Pars on the last two holes to win. Unbelievably he goes in the water twice and Garcia has a shot to win the title with Harrington already in the clubhouse. It rims the hole and you kinda knew then that Padraig was destined to win the playoff. Great stuff and nice to see him win his first major. Justin Rose did well, too.

Great stuff and drama you could not write, what a tremendous course, typical links with the changing weather, good test rather than seeing scores way under par.
There were so many that could have won but those last three holes seem to cause all the players problems, it seemed as though nobody wanted to take the chance to win.
I was painting the kitchen ready for the fitter to come today so had to place the portable so I could watch and work. Thought Monty might do something, but it now seems as though he really has had his chance. Glad for Padraig as he as threatened to do something on a number of occassions, and really hope that European golf can turn this into major wins galore.

I was delighted with the open. It was impossible for me to decide who, out of Garcia nd Harrington, I would like to win more. I like them both. As a result, I didn't decide and just revelled in the drama that was unfolding. Especially when the young Argentinian Romero hit 9 under.
Great stuff.
