sad news to report, today we lost my mother in law, Carol Banting.
carol passed away after going into hospital for a routine hip op and suffering a heart attack.
carol played bar billiards for around 40 years in surrey, brighton and worthing and enjoyed every game she played. Although she was never a truly great player she certainly started every match determined to win!
I'll post funeral details on this site so that anyone wishing to, can attend, she loved a big get together!

So sorry to hear this news Jim, please pass on my condolences to Heather and Sue.
I didn't realise that Carol had been playing for that many years, but am not surprised. As you say she was very keen supporter of the game, and led her team the Stadium D through the last few years even when she was struggling for a full side. Even last season she only started with 3 players and got the team to complete the season as Division 2 champions.
A great ambassador for the game and I will miss her when we play the Stadium D this season.

Sorry to hear of the sad news about Carol. What a horrible thing to happen.
She was of course well known in Redhill circles before Brighton and I'm sure that this will come as a shock to many when I pass the news on.
I can recall seeing her play in the Sussex Team Captains Final one year so that was a memento to her skills as a player.
Condolences to Sue and Heather and Steve and Jim also.

Jim thankyou for taking the trouble to approach me at work today with what I can only describe as devastating news. Sorry I did not pick this up on the site yesterday, but my heart felt condolencies go to Johnathan, Sue, Heather, yourself and Steve. No words can help in these times, but we all in the extended bar billiards family feel for you all. Carol was much liked and respected in her long association with the game and will be sadly missed. TJ.

Went to Carols funeral today and would like to say what a wonderful turnout and a true celebration of a lovely ladies life. A hard time for the family, but I am sure the support around them showed just how loved and missed Carol will be. Once against my deepest sympathy, and please look to those friends in those dark times.
