Q - A Great Cornishman describes the life and works of the celebrated author and historian Sir Arthur Quiller Couch.
Born in Bodmin in 1863, and known to many as 'Q', Quiller Couch (pictured above), was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, where he later became a lecturer.
He then spent a short time working as a journalist in London, before returning to Cornwall in 1892 to live in Fowey with his wife Louisa at The Haven.
The town and harbour of Fowey, where Quiller Couch lived for 50 years and wrote more than 60 books, featured in many of the author's novels under the name of 'Troy'.
Knighted in 1920 and later appointed Professor of English Literature at Cambridge University, Quiller Couch died and was buried in Fowey in May 1944. There is a memorial to him on the hillside opposite the harbour at Penleath Point.
The production of the DVD has been instigated by the trustees of the Sir Arthur Quiller Couch memorial fund. It will be launched at a reception at county hall in Truro on Tuesday, October 16. Just about says it all.... I didn't realise that I was quite THAT old though ;D
