Did Steve give a reason why he couldn't make the Masters ? - only if it was 'transport difficulties' I might be able to offer him a lift.

....but you didn't answer me about Steve, Bob: I dont know what the reason was just that he said no Is it worth me giving him a ring ? If he were to change his mind, would he be let back in ? There's still time for me to ring him in case you want him to complete the line-up.

Hello Bob, I've just spoken to Steve and it was due to transport problems (trains unreliable at the moment and its a long walk from the station to the club anyway !) So he'd very much like to play after all and I'll be bringing him (not sure if he'll get a lift home though if he ends up beating me LOL) Thanks tommo

Many thanks to Lorraine for running yet another successful Masters event, the 11th. Well I remember the discussions (sometimes heated !) here on the Forum all those years ago as a preliminary to getting the first one underway. Thanks to the club and Sparky for organising chicken curry AND a chilli con carne which kept us well fed throughout the day. And of course Sparky had worked his usual magic to prepare two good tables. Lorraine has already sent the scores through which I have converted to Word (click on the link below): MidSussexMasters2018.odt (75.19 KB) A personal thank you to Lorraine for swapping the first legs round to allow Steve and myself the time to make it down from Crawley. We arrived with minutes to spare after I was delayed 45 minutes due to the Gatwick Run: all roads surrounding the town centre were blocked off and I had to go through all the neighbourhoods of Crawley in an anti-clockwise direction to eventually reach Steve via the industrial estate. Not a joyful experience, I can tell you....... My feeling on making the final > "Comfortably numb". After my teamate Graham beat me in the heats I thought I was out of contention, and played the last leg just trying to keep Ric at bay so that Graham would go through. Then Bob rushed over and said that my 6k on the board meant I had won the group. Derek had no luck against me but a big Well Done to Higgy for his brace of 10k breaks which I could hear being scored in the other Semi-Final going on behind me. A really enjoyable day.
