Whilst at Northants, I spoke with Lorin about organising a couple of novice tournaments in Nottingham and York to give new players an opportunity to play competitive games on some tournament tables. We discussed holding them before Christmas, and I've just been offered the weekend of the 19th August for a competition in York if that doesn't clash with anything else?
Nottingham can pretty much fit in wherever as it'd likely be hosted in our league pub.

Hi Joe
I’m sure you are aware about the BB league in York. From their website they have 8 teams and from a visit I made there a couple of years ago they are a very enthusiastic and friendly bunch of players. I’m confident they would support and help with the arrangements.

I'm very familiar with them as I used to play in the league there, in fact I'm currently in York now! Had a chat with the Crescent club about hosting the return leg and they seem very keen as long as the dates are suitable.

Looks like this idea has ground to a halt unfortunately :(

To try and further this, I'm looking to create a rules poster so that beginners can have a basic introduction to the game without having to rely on a pro player happening to turn up while they're playing.

I have something for you, Joe. It should fit the bill or at least be a useful starter.
Will pop you an email.
