Dear All
You have 10 days to enter this event and we are very low on numbers, which I find very difficult to understand when it is based within the largest County of players Sussex.
The closing date will be 30/09/18.
We will format the event re players from there re timings but there will not be anything but a main and a plate.
My Thanks Chris

Dear All
It looks like we will be on 49. Martin I know is trying to raise players in Sussex. Whomever bids for his event next year may I ask that you do a front run as to whom may enter as many have not - only to ensure viability.
The event is not really viable this year so monies received re winning and so on will be far lower.
Thanks Chris

Well done to Lorin on winning the main and Gerry on winning the plate Excellent performance by Lorin Clough to win his first National title. Well done to him. Lorin took full advantage of an off-form Kevin Tunstall in the final. Kevin had been pretty much faultless all day but Lorin stepped up when he had his chances and fully deserved the win. Lorin had also some beaten some star names on his way to the final, Nigel Senior early on, Matt Jones and then Curt Driver in the semi-final. A tough loss for Curt as he was 10k behind after Lorin's break game, was making excellent progress getting himself slightly in front before he missed a ball down the middle of the table. Kevin easily beat Mark Brewster in the other semi. Gerry Fitzjohn won the Plate beating Lorraine Hall in the final, well done to both players. Gerry was pushed all the way by Lorraine in a very good final. Always a well run competition, thanks to the venue for hosting us. Thanks to Dave Alder and Chrissie Newson for running the admin desk, spot on. Thanks to Kay Cole and her team for doing the raffle, even getting Ian Lelliott to part with £5 Final thanks to Martin Cole, Stuart Mepham and Trevor Fitzwilliam for setting up the tables, all provided different tests and there was the usual tricky one or two (or should that be table 5...wow that was tricky), and for taking them down together some other helpers. Hope everyone had a good day.

I would truly like to thank Martin, Stu and Trevor for everything re tables and set up. Kay and Jacqui re raffle Claire and the Club
Dave Alder whom is just always amazing !!!
But others whom truly put themselves out to score and support the competition YOU ARE STARS !!!
Sadly there are those whom come and play their games AND expect others to score and just don't bother to score.
This truly needs to stop and there needs to be some thoughts around this - the checkers were predominantly and I mean 99% Sussex, Northants and Kent/Hastings.
I put a rule in at Bucks that losers check that did not work???
I have stated this issue continuously but we as an AEBBA Committee never discuss it or do anything ??? - I feel it should be raised so someone as generous as Phil Osborne is not just playing but continuously scoring, Bob Osborne, Colin Southouse, Matt Knight… and those from Sussex, Northants and Kent that just constantly scored.
People like Hayley whom just support and score when short !!
WE truly need to find a way here as it is an organisers nightmare - especially when you know that there are those that never score, why would anyone want to do their games ???
This is my only gripe from today.
Chris

Chris Sadly this is the case and its on growing and wont change lots of lazy players this happened in the team championships aswell which is why i then refused to score having either been playing or scoring for about 9 games straight and lots of players just stood not scoring becomesa joke. I get that there are some players that cant score for certain reasons but people are aware and myself matt phil and bob cover most of those games. I suppose the only solution from now on is the main scores will have to start charging if people need us to score more games il let silent come up woth a reasonable fee ( dont make it too cheap) Lol

A few possible suggestions for discussion: - increase entry fee by £1, make note of scorer on result card, anyone who has scored more than 3 games and is still there after the QFs gets entered in a draw to win that amount. - make it customary that the loser of the match buys the scorer a drink. - have people mark on their entry form if they are legitimately unable to score and allocate the rest of the players to games, they can then arrange to swap if they wish.
Cheers, Joe
